A quick selfy I took last night using the same process I used in my post, I just added another light behind myself for a little rim. I am a moody bastard.
Strobist: 430ex camera left through an umbrella box on 1/4 power , 430ex camera right, behind subject, through a speed grid on 1/4 power.
The February challenge between Amy & Nicole and me was "Low key". We did 10 shots each - have a look --> www.flickr.com/groups/ajac/
The tree was highlighted on the shore of Cultus Lake, viewed from my kayak. The forest behind the tree was in deep shadow, which I enhanced a bit. There are a couple of distracting elements on the edges of the frame that I may remove eventually. Processed with ON1 Photo Raw 2025.
The same apple lighted twice:
- once as highkey, I put it on a slightly shiny IKEA-shelf and used a 550EX just outside the frame at camera-right with a LumiQuest BigBounce. The background is a curved white A4-sheet light by a 420EX with cardboard gobo. It's shot as 175mm f/2.8, so you don't see the seem of the A4-sheet
- once as lowkey, I put it on a black fleece-plaid and used a 420EX with cardboard-snoot at camera-left
