Lindisfarne is a tidal island off the north-east coast of England. It is also known as Holy Island and constitutes a civil parish in Northumberland. Located in the southwest corner of the village, the Anglican 'Parish Church of Saint Mary the Virgin' is reputed to stand on the site of the original monastery founded by Aidan in 635ad. Parts of the structure date back to the 7th century.
This was taken with a Samsung 8mm f/3.5 fisheye and tonemapped using 9 images. Then finally used layers in PhotoShop to remove the visitors as they moved around the church. Sorry about the light still burning out the windows on the sides, I should have taken more care. As you can see the church columns don't match and don't line up in parallel lines. Must have had cowboy builders even in the 7th century ;-)

Went back to the closed Southern Pacific rail line to make a similar image as yesterday's. This time using my Nikon D700, 24-70mm f/2.8 @ f/2.8.
This being a Monday morning, the Southern Pacific employees where there working. When they finally saw me they made me leave their 'private property'. Fortunately I had already made the images I needed.

Greenpeace activists take direct action to protect the pristine Arctic environment from oil exploration by stopping the drilling rig Leiv Eiriksson from departing Turkish waters for Baffin Bay, Greenland. The rig is due to begin deep water oil exploration for wildcat oil company Cairn Energy, which is leading the new Arctic oil rush. The activists display a banner reading "Stop Arctic Destruction".

Stopped by our old house to pickup the wheelbarrow and noticed the snowbells are blooming.
"From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Leucojum is a small genus of bulbous plants belonging to the Amaryllis family, subfamily Amaryllidoideae native to Eurasia.
Leucojum vernum (Spring snowflake) normally grows 15-20 cm tall (6-8 in), though it may reach up to 35 cm (14 in). It flowers one or two weeks later than the snowdrops, i.e., from mid-February to March, as soon as the snow melts in its wild habitat.
Two varieties are known: L. vernum var. vernum with green spots on its tepals, and L. vernum var. carpathicum, which originates from the eastern part of its natural range, a larger plant with yellowish spots on its tepals; 'vagneri' from Hungary is a robust variant of var. vernum, often with two flowers per stem."

One young cowboy practices his rodeo calf roping technique in the entry way to a horse barn at dusk. There is something about cowboy photos that brings a sense of pride and nostalgia to a native Texan like me.
