Ventilation fans I found in a rear alley attached to the purple building formerly occupied with Luther's Blues in Madison, Wisconsin.
One of my first good photographs. I drove by this scene one more morning and slammed on the brakes. Sadly, these fans are no longer there.

October 3, 2009 - The gate of the buddhist Shōren-in temple seen from the Jingu Michi road. I applied a few different textures to the image to warm the tones and give it a more painterly look.

生態與分佈 Ecology ：
體長： L28－32 cm. 為特有亞種尚普遍的鳥類。
俗稱：鴣鳥、中斑、鴣鵰、珠頸鴿、花斑鳩、花脖斑鳩、珍珠鳩，「斑甲、素珠仔（台語）」、布鴣仔（客家語）、咕姑固（粵語）。
習性：「鳩佔鵲巢」說的就是牠(斑頸鳩注音:ㄅㄢ ㄐㄧㄥˇ ㄐㄧㄡ)廣泛分布在南亞、東南亞地區以及中國南方廣大地區的開闊林地、農地、都市等地區，一種常見的鳩鴿科副斑鳩屬物種。在台灣主要分布於各地平地到海拔1500公尺的開墾地及林地，有超強的適應力和不怕人的特質非常適應人為環境，在都市中的綠地很容易見到，說牠們厚臉皮也好、不挑剔也罷，不挑剔巢位的神奇個性，讓牠們躍升為都會區常見鳥之一，還被冠上「隨便鳩」的可愛綽號。多單獨、成對或小群活動。覓食幾乎都在地面上漫步尋找，以晨昏時最為活躍，求偶的雄性在表演時身體會極度傾斜，並在繞圈飛行時舒展自己的雙翅和尾巴以吸引雌性，常發出「咕－咕咕－」之聲。

Several palm trees with blooming climbing roses I think were the best feature of the beautiful gardens of Hearst Castle in California. What a great idea. They were mostly pink roses though I saw some white ones, too.
