Driving on the track F207 in Iceland, also known as "The Laki Loop". The most fantastic and surreal landscapes I have ever seen. The scenery changes completely every 20 minutes.

But what exactly is Laki?

From Wikipedia: "Laki or Lakagígar (Craters of Laki) is a volcanic fissure in the south of Iceland(...)

The system erupted over an eight-month period between 1783 and 1784 from the Laki fissure and the adjoining Grímsvötn volcano, pouring out an estimated 14 km3 (3.4 cu mi) of basalt lava and clouds of poisonous hydrofluoric acid and sulfur dioxide compounds that killed over 50% of Iceland's livestock population, leading to a famine that killed approximately 25% of the island's human population.

The Laki eruption and its aftermath caused a drop in global temperatures, as sulfur dioxide was spewed into the Northern Hemisphere. This caused crop failures in Europe and may have caused droughts in India. The eruption has been estimated to have killed over six million people globally, making the eruption the deadliest in historical times."

The world hassle affects our proprioception intensively, sometimes we stand still in others we just cant tell.

"Photography is a craft that is acquired over many years!"

And the camera is only the tool!

When not 'dictated' by a client, I take images that come out of my brain, the birth of the idea, the development of it, my vision and the creation, my enjoyment and the challenge, the hype and the anticipation, the struggle and disappointment of the failures, the gathering of your courage to try again... the stamina, the madness some love to call passion?

The playing with light, to me, the ultimate high, I don't need anything else. Once the image is there, I'm content, and if it 'inspires' others, releases an emotion, that's wonderful!

And I've seen how my photos have 'inspired' many!

I'm not stupid to think that everybody is going to like, let alone understand my image, but I can easily live with that, because I do not have that expectation!

I, in the first place, have to be happy with it, the quality, the composition, EVERYTHING, it has to be immaculate, I have to stand by it 100% or the outside world will NEVER see it!

That goes for my pro AND my free work (what you see here).

I wouldn't have it any other way.

I hope that you enjoyed my 'rave'?

Take care, all the best and above all... enjoy your photography.

If the day comes I don't enjoy it anymore... I'll GIVE AWAY all my gear (it's a lot, gathered over the years, please don't hold your breath, heeeee), M, (*_*)

87016, 'Sir Francis Drake', has been put into the up loop at Beattock whilst working a Glasgow Central to London Euston express service for some reason. We were also stopped on a northbound service at this location. A southbound service, hauled by a class 47 had caught fire descending Beattock about a mile north of where we were. When we passed the Fire Service had arrived to check that the fire had been put out.

The Citrus Loop, located in the Citrus County Tract of the Withlacoochee state forest is one of the most widely used portions of the Florida National Scenic Trail. It traverses a varied landscape and passes through a myriad of habitat over 43 miles of trails. The loop is one of the rare places containing dry caves in Florida. A highlight of the loop is considered to be Lizzie Hart Sink, where the sandy scrub habitat gives way to rocky, tropical foliage. These pictures were taken in a dry moment on a rainy day while hiking with the Florida Trail Association at their 50th Anniversary Celebration.

The Loop is the central business district of Chicago, Illinois. It is one of the city's 77 designated community areas. The Loop is home to Chicago's commercial core, City Hall, and the seat of Cook County. The community area is bounded on the west and north by the Chicago River, on the east by Lake Michigan, and on the south by Roosevelt Road, although the commercial core has expanded into adjacent community areas. As a business center, the Loop hosts the Chicago Board of Trade at the foot of LaSalle Street, and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. The Loop is home to Grant Park, the State Street shopping district, and the Art Institute of Chicago. Other major cultural institutions that call this area home include the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, the Goodman Theatre, the Joffrey Ballet, the central public Harold Washington Library, and the Chicago Cultural Center.
