Think this is an F15 C Eagle from USAF Grim Reaper Sqdn at Lakenheath going through the Mach Loop. We were looking down from 1,350 feet if my app was correct, onto the top of some planes as their roared thro'.
The valleys from Dolgellau down to Machynlleth make up a loop of 40 miles distance where the low level high speed jet training takes place.
{The name "Mach Loop" is not derived from the air speed but from the local abbreviation of the town Machynlleth at the base of the loop incidentally.}
"US airmen have spent more than two weeks painting modern F-15 jets to look like their World War Two counterparts.
The 48th Fighter Wing, based at RAF Lakenheath, has unveiled the first of three "heritage" aircraft to mark the 75th anniversary of D-Day in June.
American crews at the base in Suffolk painted the fighter jet to look like a P-47 Thunderbolt, with chequered nose, stripes and several national insignias.
Col Will Marshall said it paid tribute to "the 48th Fighter Wing legacy".
The commemorative work - which also saw a Statue of Liberty painted on the F-15's tail - took just over 640 hours and used £11,500-worth of paint." Quote from BBC website
Norfolk Southern Asheville based local P87 drops down the famed 'Old Fort Loops' on their daily run from Asheville to Bridgewater and back. With the closing of the Asheville to Linwood portion of the S-Line as a mainline route locals P87 during the day and P60 at night are the only two trains that traverse this famed stretch of track. Here the train navigates through one of the many rock cuts in the loops, as it prepares to duck into one of the many tunnels in the loops.

I had my bachelor party over the weekend. We camped up off the Mountain Loop Highway outside of Darrington and rafted the Sauk river Friday and Saturday.

A touch on the late side, but here nonetheless: an entry for kaiju_dan's kaijugenre contest, featuring characters stuck in time loops. This is one of my favorite genres, so I hope y'all enjoy this post.

An eastbound NS coal train sweeps around the high side of the Southern loops near Old Fort, NC, on 4-8-16. It will be about 15 minutes before the engines reach the lower side of the loops in the foreground.

This is actually known as the "Yurikamome Loop" as there is a train line called Yurikamome that runs on this loop and over the bridge.
In order to get this angle, I had to walk along a slanted path less than a meter wide. On one side of the path, a 4 meter wall. On the other side, the murky waters of Tokyo Bay. One false step, and into the water I go!

***Shutter speed***
The shutter time was recorded as 30 seconds, but that's only because I masked in an underexposed photo to retain detail in the bridge which was blown out in the long exposure. So this photo is actually a 220 second exposure, with only the two towers of the bridge at 30 seconds.
all washed and dry now. custom spun singles. separated the colors in the batt and added angelina.

We currently have a Western Hemlock Looper (Lambdina fiscellaria) infestation in my town. When you go out to water the shrubs, bazillions of moths come flying out. They are everywhere!
Another from a weekend of photography with Martin Turner, Daniel Borg and Janet Miles.
A big thanks to Dan for remembering how to get to this place as I never would have found it. Certainly a very impressive staircase, which works really well with the purple and yellow contrasts. And in case you were wondering, this was taken with a fish-eye lens of course.
Apologies to everyone for the lack of comments recently, life has never been so busy! Will catch up as soon as I can.
Last year - due to unexpected and extended travels - I was gone from Arizona in October and November and missed the entire "autumn color" experience. This year I promised to immerse myself in Autumn.
The Arizona SnowBowl area assists visitors with signs that read "Aspen Loop Trail" - can't get any easier than that. Except that means visitors flock to the area even on weekdays. But I ignored them and pointed my camera away from the Trail and absorbed the quiet and beauty that could be found - even on a busy day on a busy trail.
Mach Loop Bwlch top shelf 26.04.2016
I am very much an opportunist as far as the Loop is concerned. I don't have the privilege of tip offs or contacts within squadrons like some do unfortunately.
I will book a day off work, drive to Mid Wales climb a big hill and just hope for the best. I arrived at the Bwlch car park just before 8am and it was full! Last time it was like this I had a good day.... Today was probably the most memorable day I will ever have in the loop.
Started off well with a Tornado GR4, then a Hawk. Then it got interesting, Belgians in the Lichfield Corridor over the scanner requesting Low Fly. Awesome! F16s through the loop, really pleased!
A little longer passed and we endured a full blown blizzard for about 20 minutes. Once the snow passed the skies cleared and then we waited. Americans over the scanner, Rage was the call sign, F15's were on the way! As they neared then they began talking about the formation, they had Raptors in tow!!!!
3oz of baby alpaca and tussah silk!
"Butterscotch Sundae" consists of a blend of pure vanilla baby, natural chocolate baby, and natural coffee baby alpaca layered with luscious tussah silk in butterscotch hues. Each batt is topped of with a sprinking of chocolate/bronze glitz.
So beautiful! Not sure what this will become yet, but I will probably spin it very thin and 2-ply it.
