My first upload for awhile. Over two weeks ago I got struck down with a bout of IBS that I occasionally suffer from. Then it got worse, a lot worse. Little food along with even less sleep has left me a little frazzled of late. So I've been recovering as best I can and with an anniversary holiday to Porto in a couple of days time, I've been struggling to get into some sort of shape for it, mentally and physically. Especially since some Portuguese dishes are very nice, to speak nothing of the Port Wine I was looking forward to.
So I've hardly had a chance to try out my 'new' (S/H) 18-200mm Canon lens before the holiday either except for a few shots of Cat Cat here staring out at the rain one morning. And I've barely been able to take advantage of the few days of sunshine we've had as well. Though I managed a visit to the Docklands Museum with friends and family yesterday it was sunny in the morning before the almost obligatory grey clouds and overcast arrived in the afternoon.
My friend Fergus posed for me :) , as you can maybe see this wasn't exactly the easiest place to get up to, but i think the view was pretty worth it

While the speeches were going on I turned my phone the other way and snapped this shot looking out from the Marquee. A couple of bridesmaids catch up with a friend. The mound in the background is a WWII beach front bunker now used as garden furniture storage!

Now my paintings from America have returned , they have been re-stretched and are getting ready for framing. I had to do some minor touch up work etc before they could be put in frames.
The exhibition will open on September 24th at WOA.
This poor fly awoke from its winter slumber, crawled around on this filthy window, and then died a few hours later. Hell of a way to spend his last day. I wish I would have opened the window for him.
I'm remembering the tranquility I experienced during our train ride out west to Glacier National Park. The rhythmic rocking of the sleeper car was the only sound as I documented this sunset through the window.
There's so much noise at this point in my life that I'm planning to intentionally force quietness. How close can I get back to this moment on the train? Particularly in the political sphere, I've never seen so many arguments on my facebook feed. Time to unplug (using News Feed Eradicator and other helpful chrome extensions - LINK) and make room for more introspection.
This is an eight-image panorama.
A very generous friend gave my husband and myself a gift voucher for Tetsuya's for Christmas. I made a booking for us for our wedding anniversary that was on the 18th, but last night, the 20th being the closest to date I could get. A lovely evening; great atmosphere, very attentive staff and a wonderful 10 course degustation. I've only posted a few of the dishes.

We just don't get much for clouds this time of year so here is a shot from earlier this year that I have worked on for quite a while. I really like the way the clouds turned out and the movement in the reeds.

During this 'lockdown', it's good to go for a walk on the (mostly empty) beach of Breskens. Looking out over the Westerschelde (Western Scheld), Vlissingen (Flushing), on the other side looks so close in the crisp fresh air. Even the church tower of Middelburg is clear to see.
It's great to live in Zeeland, close to the coast.

Shot at Rockledge Park, Lake Grapevine. I took this over a lunch hour and forgot to bring a change of clothes to do it in. I ruined a good pair of pants, but it was worth it.
They day I took these I was so incredibly lucky - perfect Auntumn sky and three very patient birds. :)
A daily record of a woodland that I've been familiar with for 34 years. It is good to record these places in a very personal way come rain or shine. I like to see the place without making anything picturesque, rather setting down what's before me at different times of day and not overworking each piece, keeping it spontaneous and fresh. Inspired by Charles Burchfield and Emily Carr among others. In some ways a pendant to my Simon's wood series and to be part of my Looking Out exhibition.
