long weekend here, spending it with the fam down at bawley with mum and dad, so nice to see the grandkids out and playing like we all did when we were their age.

this is one of those giga-thingy pano-portraits...some people seem to have moved a few times...and stuch their tongues out...missing from the shot is the little sis allie, rob and brother in law pete, but even though it is not the full contingent it has been pretty bliss.

now off the bed to sleep off too many calories...

...at the entrance of a small concert hall in the amazing village of Valdemossa in Mallorca. Eventhough we stayed in Palma, I insisted on visiting this beautiful village daily....it is one of the reasons I always want to return to this magnificent island!

This was my second visit to Mallorka and I enjoyed more than the first....already looking forward to the next : )

The May long weekend always brings the annual river run. The idea is to build something that floats (hopefully) and float down the river and over the light rapids. All the rafts usually sport chairs and coolers. This group learned that the rapids were coming up and they should be on the other shore of the river in order to have a better chance at navigating through the rapids, so quickly got off their chairs and started paddling! Some of the rafters behind them though, had no paddles at all, and seemed content to float along and hope for the best. We could hear shouts and laughter further down the river, so it's all good fun.

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME

Fashion, health and beauty have always been important to me, and since resigning from my full time job to start this blog I am now lucky enough to have more time to myself to try new things and implement positive changes in my life. For me, self development has never been a destination, I believe in trusting your instincts and enjoying your journey; I will share mine with you throughout my blog. It is hard to break patterns of behavior but so rewarding when you do, and see the results – I am still working on the six pack though!

The change of season brings beautiful foliage, many wardrobe additions, holiday travel plans and lots of fun events, however this can play havoc with your health and general well being. My skin starts to resemble a reptile, my jeans feel like they have shrunk two sizes and my calendar looks unmanageble, so I thought I would share some of my fall beauty tips to staying healthy and happy over the holiday period.( www.thetaylorsauce.com/health-beauty-tips/ )

WHAT TO DO

I have recently been having regular cryotherapy sessions at Advanced Cryo NYC which greatly assists with my recovery from regular intense workouts – in recent years I have ramped up my training as I have more time and motivation, and I absolutely love the recovery benefits and relief that cryotherapy gives me in between workouts, and an added bonus is that it makes me sleep like a baby!

Make the time to get a massage! This pleasure should not only be reserved for vacations – I know I am better all round when massages are a regular part of my health and beauty routine.

Fall weather for me means regular facials… to maintain a healthy, hydrated and hopefully youthful glow I go to Go Green Organic Spa

As we all know, good inner health shows – for me especially in my hair, skin and nails. Since my lifestyle change to being self-employed in recent years, I have noticed a vast improvement in these. I believe in regular manis / pedis all year round as well as frequent hair masks either in the salon or at home do not skip these beauty practices!

One of the biggest changes or should I say additions to my lifestyle since moving to New York has been seeing a dermatologist on a regular basis. This was prompted by being diagnosed with basel cell carcinoma combined with the being intrigued by how amazing many female celebrities’ look at every age and what are some of the most common beauty rituals – thank you to everyone who has opened up about the importance of seeing a dermatologist habitually!

WHERE TO WORKOUT

For those who know me know that many of my New York mornings these days consist of ‘hardcore pilates’ aka SLT – there are many of these studios across the state for a reason – it works! Although these classes are challenging and sweaty, they are intimate and I love the intense full body workout whilst still being low impact on the body – a great way to warm up on those chilly fall mornings…

If you really, really want to sweat then you should check out Barry’s Bootcamp – this intense cardio workout is a fun Sunday sweat session with friends, and I am excited to try it in London later this month!

To relieve my sore body and busy mind I practise yoga regularly at Sky Ting – the studio space and teachers are equally beautiful, and every time I travel I cannot wait to come home to visit.

Fall weather means fall foliage and what better way to experince it than a ‘mini circuit’ workout, brisk walk, run or ice skating in the magical Central Park – no excuses for not working out!

WHAT TO BUY

With skin care being a huge beauty focus for me in the fall, I cannot live without Maya Chia’s wonder blam which is great for stubborn dry skin areas, made from ‘superfood’ chia seeds it will leave those areas feeling smooth and nourished; I also love Maya Chia’s illuminating face serum which results in looking glowing and radiant even after travelling long distances with minimal effort, this is a travel essential.

For the home, make sure you invest in some good hair, skin and nail vitamins like Biotin, and a humidifier like this one from Objecto to maintain your healthy glowing skin!

I have recently fallen in love with Nip & Fab – their Dragon’s Blood Hylaronic Shot is super hydrating, plumping and affordable – great for everyday under your moisturizer and really makes a difference, especially in cooler weather.

I often apply my Kiehl’s daily moisturizer combined with foundation or a CC cream using an Artis Brush – these brushes result in uniform application and superior blending of your products. I am taking the Digit Collection in the handy travel case on my trips over the holidays and this also makes a great holiday gift.

My skin care routine would never be complete without some serious eye love from La Mer – I actually use a lot of La Mer products that I was introduced to when I was a buyer at David Jones, Australia many years ago, and La Mer’s quality and richness still remains my go to.

‘Gumscape With Road and Creatures’

Where is it? Customs House, Circular Quay

What is it? Artist and musician Reg Mombassa is something of a national icon. This multi-talented man is a founding member of legendary new wave rockers Mental As Anything – along with his current band, Dog Trumpet – and his instantly-recognisable, Australiana-infused surrealist art style is synonymous with Mambo and the fashion brand’s bright, cartoonish shirts, which are favoured by dads everywhere. So really, it’s about damn time that Mombassa’s rebellious imagination was let loose all over a building’s facade for Vivid Sydney. Created in collaboration with Spinifex Group, Mombassa’s contribution to the festival lights sees retro-futuristic robots, one-eyed koalas and other strange creatures take over Customs House. The classic Aussie road trip is turned on its head, and we are left to question our collective identity and what it means to be human.

I couldn't resist dipping my toes in the steamy waters. A totally different experience than paying to sit in a chlorinated pool.

Taken near Nordegg, AB, on our camping trip for the September Long Weekend.

Australia Day in Margaret River.

After a few pints, a BBQ, watching the cricket on TV, a game of poker and spraining my thumb by jumping in the kiddies pool, I relaxed by taking a few shots of Chris, Adam, Patrice, Ant & Jacqui playing cricket with a Champagne bottle and gumnuts.

I was at my camp this longweekend with the family!

Dallas loves it there; we don't leave for work, he doesn't need to be tied up, he can go walk in the lake when he's warm etc. When we went to go leave this afternoon he walked away from the trucks. He didn't want to go!

I know it's been a while since I have posted a Dallas picture! Here he is looking at the lake at camp! I don't exactly know why, but I just love something about this shot. I think it's the B&W, as you can tell by my stream, it's been a while since I've shot a B&W picture!

I hope everyone had a great longweekend!

Oldest artwork on the property

I'm not sure if this counts as a true reflection, but I did take it with that in mind, making my dad stop the car so I could get a shot. The colors were just so cool in person.

I wrote a bit about the trip on the blog.
