The Museum of the Long Weekend organised a "caravan" of vintage caravans and cars from the 1940s, 50s, 60s and 70s to converge on Canberra on the weekend of 19-20 October 2013 to help celebrate the Centenary of Canberra. It was an amazing display, with almost all vans and cars matched by period, colour coordinated and furnished with period pieces. You could go through all the vans and we spent a lot of time talking to their owners. There were a lot of people who had restored their vehicles and caravans and they were terrific - but my personal favourite was the 1962 caravan that had been in the owner's family since original purchase and which he had holidayed in continuously since a child. Great stuff! There were about fifty caravans to inspect and they all brought back some memory from my own childhood - either through the vans themselves, the cars, or the household items that they stocked.
A quiet Canada Day long weekend at White Sands on Buffalo Lake.
Okay, really a mascot for the lake. I'm not sure what a White Sands mascot would look like...
...just some decoration in a garden of a house in this small village, on the way up to the monastery...
04 OCTOBER 2020
1st part of the day.
Caught a train to Wynyard Station.
Short walk to Barangaroo.
Picked up a couple of donuts and a flat white at Short Stop (Shop 3/23 Barangaroo Ave, Barangaroo NSW 2000). These donuts have got to be THE BEST I've had in my life. They were AMAZING. I had the Australian Honey & Sea Salt Cruller and the Earl Grey & Rose Cake. Original flavours, incredible texture. I strongly recommend!
Walked from Barangaroo, through Barangaroo Reserve and Walsh Bay.
Took some pictures of some artwork along the way.
Had to get the iconic Crown Sydney Hotel Resorts, which is redefining the skyline of the city. It will be the tallest building in Sydney this year. I worked on that building! I've been the Project Engineer that has fully project managed all aspects of the structural steel (columns, beams and voronoi structures), aluminium cladding and stainless steel guttering for Canopies 5, 6, and 7 on that building.
Ended at The Rocks.
Walked to Circular Quay.
Took the Manly Ferry (see next picture!).
i love this song right now Waiting Outside the Lines
I'm really glad he's singing (yes i know he's 13) about something meaningful unlike a lot of singers these days
I'm waiting...
You're so afraid of taking chances
How you gonna reach the top?
[so this photo is from a long time ago... you might be able to tell which day from looking at my past photos]
on another note.. if someone opens up to you about something take it as a compliment because not a lot of people tell the truth about what they're going through.
i care when i ask "how are you?" and i'm looking for an answer that isn't one-worded..
