My logic analyser arrived today from Saleae and now I can finally see what's actually going on with the camera. It hooks up really easily and the software's great, though unfortunately the linux version isn't finished yet. Nevertheless I was able to get some great traces of what the camera's sending and it should hopefully be enough to tweak my code into reading the image properly!
Here is a screen shot showing how you can use Mobius AU in Logic with separated multiple looper outputs.
1) Open Mobius AU on an Instrument Track as "MIDI Controlled Effect" in the mode "Multi Output (8xStereo)".
2) In the Mobius AU GUI plug-in window, hold down the mouse button inside the "Side Chain" box (upper right corner) and chose from the drop-down menu the physical input on your audio interface that you want to loop in Mobius.
3) Open the mixer (pressing "x")
4) Click the little "+" on the left side of the mixer in order to create additional Aux Channels.
5) Chose to create seven new stereo Aux Channels.
6) The Mobius plug-in provides the first virtual output (Mobius 1-2). Hold down the mouse button in input slot of the seven aux channel strips and fetch the appropriate virtual Mobius output to each aux channel.

Probably the closest Honolulu will get to sakura, or a cherry blossom tree in full bloom is the Baker's shower tree (Cassia bakeriana) from Thailand.
Here next to a bulletin board, and in front of Hamilton Library on the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa campus, this specimen blooms profusely in May.

You know you're going too far if your monitor setup requires you to move sideways in order to take in what's on screen.
Finally got round to replacing the 500GB disc in my three year old iMac. A slightly daunting procedure made far easier by following the guidance in Brian Dorey's excellent video guide at: vimeo.com/2252036.
Took slightly longer than the 30 minutes Brian suggests and my iMac is slightly different internally from the one he's working on.
Required tools: Torx 6 and 9 drivers available from Maplin and a four suction available from Screwfix for about £10.
Note the laptop so that I can follow his instructions on Vimeo as I work thru the transplant. I also needed to clone the content of the 500GB drive onto the 2TB drive. This cloning procedure took seven and a half hours! I used Carbon Copy Cloner. I then transferred the drive from the WD caddy into the iMac. Handling the 24" flat panel with no screen protection and a hell of a lot of dust was a bit nerve wracking. Anyway I managed it but had to be really careful to lay the 20 or so screws out in the right order so that I could re-assemble properly. Just follow Brian's instructions, make sure there are no small children running around, make sure you've got the right kit, take care and you'll be fine!
Computer works fine, seems a bit faster and it's great to have 1.5TB free!
Today is the National Day of Reason, so I'm celebrating by sharing these logic cookies that I made last night. They include a variety of symbols from the fields of symbolic logic, set theory, boolean algebra, algebraic logic, and other fields. (and I had to throw in Gottfried Leibniz's integral symbol and Leonhard Euler's summation Sigma!)

Ah, I thought ...wishing a benediction down on the heads of the owners... original Crittall windows. I always feel diffident about hanging around in front of people's houses taking photos, so I snapped and went. It was only when I got home and looked at the day's haul of piccies that I noticed something amiss. Look at the two large downstairs windows. It looks as though uPVC replacement windows have been somehow fitted behind the Crittalls ...or rather that uPVCs have been fitted and the Crittall frames moved forward a few inches in the window apertures. Well, at least they've made some effort, and all the other windows are still in original condition. So why oh why ...as they used to say in the Daily Mirror... have they applied that "textured" finish to the exterior? I think it aspires to be pargetting, but succeeds only in bringing off a resemblance to Artex. All the good intentions with the windows are set at naught.
