A mile from any building, this log welcomes us often. No paths through this wood. We know the way well. The birdsong was beautiful this afternoon and we sat and basked for half an hour. We then went and sat by a beautiful pond watching the ripples as the bugs surfaced for air. It really did not feel like an April day.
Also saw May blossom, this is rather early in our locality.

The southbound Logs are seen just after crossing Docker Viaduct with Colas 60087 in charge. 60087 is working 6J37 from Kingmoor Yard to Chirk and is travelling via the WCML even though the S&C is now open. The train has taken nearly 3 hours to get here from Carlisle having spent most of its time in loops.

Log-cabin blanket a la Mason-Dixon Knitting, out of my handspun, handdyed merino on US 10 needles. Each strip is 10 ridges deep. Edging is a row of single crochet. I love it!
I restored this log house which was built in 1867 as a summer vacation home. It was a job that went on and on until finished. Stones from the land were used to build the chimney and interior fireplace. The restoration process took almost 10 years with time out for Michigan winters. Located near Harrison Michigan. I have just recently sold it.

Recruit Drew Ashe, Platoon 3085, India Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, attempts to pull himself over a raised log on an obstacle course Aug. 19, 2013, on Parris Island, S.C. The course is one of many physical training tools used to help Marine recruits improve their strength and stamina. Ashe, 21, from Baltimore, is scheduled to graduate Oct. 25, 2013. Parris Island has been the site of Marine Corps recruit training since Nov. 1, 1915. Today, approximately 20,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 13 weeks of rigorous, transformative training. Parris Island is home to entry-level enlisted training for 50 percent of males and 100 percent for females in the Marine Corps.

These are just traditional log cabin blocks with a white center square and sashing. the prints used are from a variety of designers and were chosen based on their pink and orange-ness. :)
Unfortunately, I'm not 100% sure of the location of this saw mill. My GPS wasn't working when I took this photo. I'm pretty sure it's somewhere between Fort Saint John and Whitecourt.

I have never gone out of my to take to pictures of 'Logs' but this came along between the Brush on 1M38 and 1M25 so I pressed the shutter. Little did I know that it would be a rare shot as this loco worked only on a few occasions on the mainline in this livery. The overgown 'siding' to the right is the Severn Beach passenger branch!
