As the first rays of golden sun fall on the Oregon Coastline, Polson Logging Mikado #2 takes a train of empty log bunks north on the former SP Tillamook Branch, that is now the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad.
Details of an old finnish log house.
I love log houses and one of my ever lasting dreams is to be able, one day, to buy one in Finland.
Iris (eyewrisz) interpretation is, as always, too kind! Thank you my friend!!
this may just be a picture of logs
might be ignored and not written about in blogs
it's all about surface and texture you see
that makes an artistic expression for me
whether a part of something or possibly all
how it's interpreted is the call
what is photographed should be definitely appealing
and it leaves you with an arty feeling

47739 "Robin Of Templecombe" & failed 56078 cross Ribblehead Viaduct at the rear of 6V37 14:42 Ribblehead VQ to Chirk logs. 28/4/2014. The train was headed by 56087 and it was heading up to Blea Moor to run-round - some 70 minutes late at this point.
A mystery! An image from the personal collection of late Ohio Historical Society curator Donald Hutslar, who snapped a photo of this photo circa 1973. I know nothing about the house or the family. There appears to be a low ridge at lower right, which suggests a location somewhere in a hilly part of the country—maybe Appalachia, but it's impossible to be sure. Unsurprisingly, a Google reverse-image search turned up nothing.
It's a standard enough single-pen home—likely not especially old (perhaps from the later part of the nineteenth century), with logs that are nearly round and not trimmed to be flush at the corners. Note the rafter mortises cut into the top log. The upper part of the chimney appears to be brick. But what make the picture a gem is the family: No cold, blank stares here!
Another view of the mushroom. I managed to shove the camera a little closer and get the focus on the front rim still shooting blind. While this may be considered a success, I lost the front bokeh and the back bokeh is a little more diffuse if you compare the two shots.

Gnarly old log house back in the good old days. Once was home, but not sure about the minus forty winter nights.....

For the first time in many months, this afternoon I saw the Carlisle Yard to Chirk Logs, with Colas Rail 60087 up front. The working was the 6J37/1159 departure, the date was 19/05/17 and the location was Charnock Richard.
