It's been a while. We began our log home project in January of 2004 after a year of planning.

 

We had 2 trucks bring our logs from Tennessee.

This is a demonstration but this working team of Belgians is used daily to clear logs. Milton, ON

Log cabins near Newton Stewart in Dunfrieshire

Some pics of the older structures we viewed while visting the Great Smoky Mountains area. Some are smokehouses some are corn cribs. Its pretty amazing the handiwark that went in to making wooden hinges and the hand fitting of the log pieces together at the corners.

Logging truck on the Trans-Canada Trail. This is the Lusk Creek Trail in the Sibbald district of Kananaskis about 1/2 hour west of Calgary, Alberta. Twenty-five truckloads of trees a day are cut and removed from this popular recreation and natural area during the winter logging operation.
