After logging nearly 1,000 miles across Missouri discussing how to expand job and business opportunities, U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill has wrapped up her “McCaskill on Main Street” tour, which brought her to public town halls and meetings with local leaders this week.
Full log replacement on a vintage log cabin. These logs were rotten due to a coat build up of paint on the logs. Paint and many oil based film forming finishes can form a barrier over the logs not allowing them to breathe and evaporate moisture. Rot eventually sets in with the moisture over 20%.
Log Cabin at McPherson County Old Mill Museum in Lindsborg Kansas. Built in 1870 and was located southwest of town.
This is actually an old rail road tie, that lines the lane to our cabin.
The red things were coming off the tree buds.

Homemade resonant percussion instrument made from a hollowed-out log with sound hole, stretched skin on either end, and taut ropes along the length. As seen at the SF Recycling Center's Artists-in-Residence studio.
My First tufa Log. I formed a log shape out of stucco lath. Then I mixed a batch of tufa that was quite thick so it would stick to the lath rather then fall through.
(This was made upside down.)
The second layer was thinner so the wood grain could be marked and carved into it.
The last layer was the thinner concrete slurry that I rubbed around on the inside to seal up the holes and smooth the surface.
Two drain holes were drilled in the bottom.
A logging operation. THE TRUCK IS LOADED WITH TIMBER AND THE MEN ARE POSING ON THE TIMBER. NO NAMES ARE NOTED. A hard copy may exist. SCANNED USING ANSCO SAFETY FILM (LEVEL 2 DETERIORATION : SLIGHT EDGE CURL BUT HAS A VERY DARK BLUE DISCOLORATION ) 8" BY 10" BLACK AND WHITE NEGATIVE. COULD NOT GET A COMPLETE SCAN BECAUSE OF THE SIZE OF THE NEGATIVE.
