This is an old one from my photostream post playing in photoshop. I prefer this one, think it has a bit more pop to it : )
The "Log Cabin" was built in 1904 by Morgan Gress for his private use. Ed Rivers bought the structure in 1928. His family lived there until November 23, 1935, when is burned to the ground. Depicted here are Mrs. Rivers, their son "D", and daughter Jerry. Mrs. Lawson Patten, holding her infant son Robert, visits with her friend, while Ralph Berryhill (wearing the catcher's mitt) talks with "D" and was the son of George Gress, who established the larger lumber mill in Milltown at the turn of the century. The Log Cabin remained the social center of Milltown/Lakeland until it burned the year for Rivers was elected Governor of Georgia.
The sill log on the north side of the Sprouse baccer barn is about gone. Six legged critters are munching away.
This old place comprises about 38 acres. Peggy swears when Hazel goes on she's moving back to Winston.

She ran, unsuccessfully, for a Yadkin County Commissioners seat.
My hunch is she won't leave the land when Hazel goes home.
This is my first real log cabin cushion and I have to admit, I'm quite pleased, on the whole.

I hope this means they are seeding and are not going to build. i did see a grading truck pass by but don't know if he was part of this crew.
Located at 2012 4th Corso, this cabin was erected in 1855 by Allen and Barbara (Kagi) Mayhew, who had moved to Nebraska in 1854. Mrs. Mayhew's younger brother John Henry Kagi came to stay with the Mayhews in 1855. Kagi had earned a law degree and had strong anti-slavery views. By 1856, he had moved to Kansas Territory and became an ally of the abolitionist John Brown. This cabin was used as a refuge for the Underground Railroad. It is believed to be the only Underground Railroad site in Nebraska, and is officially recognized by the National Park Service as such. The cabin was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2011.
Nebraska City is located on the banks of the Missouri River in southeastern Nebraska. It is the county seat of Otoe County.
I'm knitting a Noro Yarn log cabin afghan. I washed and blocked the first four squares today and they looked so good I just had to take a few photos of them. I couldnt' decide if I should try and wash and block the entire afghan or do the squares one at a time, a respected knitting buddy said do the blocks one at a time and so I am.
There will be five blocks in this yarn colorway and five in each of three other colorways. More photos to come!

Having read a lot about the Punggol Beach Massacre of 1942 where-in about 400 Chinese civilians were massacred by the Japanese Military forces, me and my buddies decided to pay the site a visit one fine Sunday morning. Out of some sheer curiosity, we decided to find a way to the beach through the Forest. Came across this over hanging log of wood towards the end of the hike.
