My first attempt at making a log cabin quilt block. I used the scrappiest scraps I could find - just in case it didn't work out ^_^;
It looks okay though, considering it was my first attempt and I used scissors and a bog-standard ruler.
Bueno pues después del mini sondeo, he hecho un poco lo que me ha salido de los huevos y he cogido la idea del primer logo que probé jaja Ahora solo queda ver cómo queda en las fotos.

Ever wonder what it takes to build a log house. These are pictures of the entire construction of our house from October 2006 to Nov 2007. It might take me a few days to put them all up, so if you're looking at these as I am posting them, check back for the rest.
I'll add these all to me log home set, so it might be easier to click that set to the right and go from there (I'll try to get them in order the best I can).
If you have any questions about the construction, feel free to ask. I was there pretty much everday and then I was there everyday after I fired our general contractor and had to finish his work myself.
Feel free to leave comments.

Whittaker Camp. A recreated 1940's logging camp. These three shanties were typical of those constructed of available wood and were often crudely built.

Tree logs in a field.
Propane gas is still rather expensive, so people cut down large areas of the forest for heating and cooking. Not sure if these trees were taken down for that purpose, but there were plenty of them.

In the weeks before the Olympics it seemed as if every day there were new structures, new artwork, and new decorations sprouting all over downtown Vancouver.
This was a little log cabin-style structure where they did First Nations totem carving demonstrations out on the lawn of the VAG. Soon, the entire lawn would be covered with a temporary tiled covering (see later photo).
Logan es nuestro precioso conejo belier enano. Nació el 13 de mayo. Le encanta salir a pasear por la casa, cotillearlo todo y levantar las orejas como si fueran hélices para no perder detalle. ¡Es una pasada!

this house was built from logs and then sided - there was no insulation in the walls (in a climate where -40F is not uncommon in the winter). As I was taking photos the farmer who owns the land stopped by - he used to live in this house. He said that water would freeze in the bedrooms... I have no doubt that was true.
