A clue as to what lay ahead, maybe. As we started down the footpath in Clarkson's Wood, South of Skinningrove, this fallen tree lay across our way. But at least someone had cut the branches away to allow progress.

In this section of Clarkson's Wood, the footpath has been massively eroded by the nearby Kilton Beck. Beyond this point, the footpath virtually disappeared.
At this point, the footpath in Clarkson's Wood is reasonable, - although it has already been diverted away from the edge of the KIlton Beck once.
South of Loftus there is a well maintained footpath through Rosecroft Woods. This path follows the Waytail Beck. Even at this time of year, with no leaves on the trees, this a pleasant walk.
The Southern part of Loftus Wood has been cleared. The track through the wood is extremely muddy even at this time of year and sections of the track were very uneven and slippery.
