OurDailyChallenge "The Mail"
We don't have door to door delivery, so most folks in Stayner have a lock box where we can pick up our mail 24/7. This lobby is relatively new and all new boxes were installed during recent renovations. You can see the change in the floor where the lobby was extended.
Lock 13 on the Mississippi River was crowded with probably 200 eagles on the ice and in the trees. This whole ice floe was moving pretty fast in the water. The wind was raw and blustery. This isn't a great photo because of all the movement . The tripod was shaking in the wind
My roommate just finished picking this lock, and wanted proof that he did it. So I took this picture.
One of the many locks placed on Melbourne's iconic Evan Walker Bridge (previously the Southbank Pedestrian Bridge).
Normally a meter or so above water, one now can't even walk across it.
Currently all structures have been removed & lock gates are open 24/7.
Lock 13 at Marple proved to be the very devil of a job to clear of mud when the Peak Forest Canal Society set about it with barrow hoist and men with shovels. Each time we started work something would break. The pump would stop working or the hoist failed, or some other disaster would befall the job. Instead of a weekend it took several weeks before it was finally emptied of that black mud. This photo was taken at the beginning of the Lock 13 saga in September 1972.

For Comp Corner- under lock & key...
My first thoughts for this image were similar to certain other mucky-minded perverts in the group :-) But being unable to get my hands on and think of a 'nice' way to present a Chastity belt I found this Garter with the handcuffs and made do!
The original garter is Ivory but the shot works much better in Mono. It took me a long time to get the tone right here and don't talk to me about the 'Greys'... I went through 50 of 'em to get this particular shade! ;-))
I was recently wandering the museums at the Tower of London and some of the chastity belts there were horrific! No amount of prettifying would have made a decent image! :-)) None the less it was something our Knights of Old were keen to keep safely under Lock and Key!

probably my favorite. The man is entirely made of padlocks welded together. The string to the key is made of 100's of keys. Lots of better shots of this on flickr.
Boundary lock on the Chesterfield canal on the Nottinghamshire/Yorkshire border. I haven't been able to find out why the canal is closed upwards of here. I am stood on the S. Yorshire part.

September 1st until further notice – Boundary Lock (41A) to the Norwood Tunnel
The Canal & River Trust is planning to temporarily restrict navigation movements along a four mile stretch of the Chesterfield Canal from September 1st until further notice.
Enabling boats to cruise its waterways during the most popular boating months (March to October) is a top priority for C&RT. However, despite the hard work and continued efforts of its operational and water management teams, it has taken the decision to restrict navigation along part of the canal due to concerns over water levels.
There are three contributing factors:
1. Despite recent rainfall, the first half of the year has been exceptionally dry, and Chesterfield Canal relies on a regular supply of rainfall to replenish its resources.
2. There has been a significant increase in boat movements along the canal since lockdown restrictions were lifted, leading to a higher loss of water than normal as vessels move through locks.
3. As of 20th August 2020, feeder reservoirs at Pebley and Harthill are at 35% of holding capacity, with predictions that the reservoirs will be at the critical level of 20% within four weeks at the current rate of use, unless there is significant rainfall.
By restricting the use of this section between Lock 42 and the summit at Norwood Tunnel to powered craft, C&RT can keep the rest of the canal running as normal. Please note that Shireoaks Marina will remain open and can be used for winding.
C&RT is continuing to monitor water levels and will review the decision if there is significant rainfall. It appreciates the patience of users during this time.
