An artistically rendered image showing the spatial separation of endocytic pathways in a migrating fibroblast. Clathrin-coated vesicles (blue) are nonpolarized, while clathrin-independent carriers (red) localize to the leading edge and caveolae (green) form at the rear of the cell. Howes et al. reveal that clathrin-independent internalization is the predominant endocytic pathway in fibroblasts.

Small Group Discussion: Localizing Agricultural Value Chains for Shared Prosperity
The world’s agricultural economy exceeds $2 trillion, yet much of the production, processing, and manufacturing for high value food products that could be energizing developing economies instead takes place in developed countries, reducing opportunities for local livelihood improvement and economic growth. Some companies have identified an opportunity to strengthen their own businesses and invest in local livelihoods by keeping high-value processing and manufacturing in the low-income countries where their agricultural products are sourced. Others are localizing their supply chains, ensuring that food products they sell within developing countries are made using locally sourced ingredients. These trends can empower smallholder farmers, strengthen small- and medium-sized enterprises, and mitigate the climate footprint resulting from the transportation of goods across the globe, while at the same time reducing companies’ sourcing and production costs. To ensure that localized supply chains and value chains can function sustainably, businesses must cultivate ecosystems that support this type of business environment and the human capital needed for growth and prosperity.
In this session, participants will:
• Explore the economic, environmental, and social opportunities that can be achieved through local value chains and the partnerships that can make these possible.
• Examine case studies of successful efforts to localize supply chains serving domestic markets and create value chains in low-income countries to serve global markets.

In northwestern England, there is an extremely localized musical phenomenon. It's called Donk, and it's basically the best worst thing we've ever heard. Think cheesy rave music with bleeps and bloops put on top (these are the "donks") and the UK equivalent of a trailer park boy band rapping over it. Sounds amazing, huh? Our five-part Donk-umentary gets to the heart of the craze and examines this odd regional mania that most chaps in southern England don't even know about.
Tension builds as the Blackout Crew is about to hit the stage to perform their hit song "Put a Donk on it". Even with the abundance of drugs, alcohol, and violence, the Donk parties mostly remain all-ages events.

On July 27th, 2006 there was a very localized storm that hit the UW-Madison campus. The official rainfall total was less than an inch, but parts of the city measured between 4 and 6 inches in less than an hour.
This photoset shows two of my coworkers (DDW in light blue, JP in pink) helping a third coworkers wife push her Saturn out of the way after it got submerged in the turnaround by Union South. Another coworker, BW, joins them later on, wearing wading boots. The two students walked by dressed up in garbage bags while this was going on.
This perennial cryptantha is fairly localized to open dry vegetation in this region of the U.S.A. and is known in Montana from only the Pryor Mountain region. This site is across the border in Wyoming in the Horseshoe Bend area along the Bighorn River, northeast of Lovell. An ability to thrive in different sagebrush communities and on different substrates while being geographically confined is common to many species inhabiting the sagebrush steppe.
I was rebuilding the localizer here in Kotzebue Alaska, and this shot is takenn mid day through the ice fog.
We got some good snow the other day and it finally cleared up this evening to head out into the 18º weather to get a few, nice subtle, sunset pictures. This is a three image vertorama with a few localized level adjustments a desaturation layer, and a strip of exposure change to bring out the tree line. I love shooting snowscapes, beautiful light just seems to create itself as it leaps and bounces off the snow and trees.
Snow is a such fascinating phenomenon of nature, something that never ceases to amaze me. The way it gently floats to the earth, yet over relatively short periods of time can cover whole cities and towns with many feet of its airy lightness.
The Bible has much to say about snow. Here are a few of my favorites.
Psalm 51:7
Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Psalm 148:7-8
Praise the Lord from the earth,
you great sea creatures and all deeps,
fire and hail, snow and mist,
stormy wind fulfilling his word!
Isaiah 1:18
“Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.
Isaiah 55:10-11
“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven
and do not return there but water the earth,
making it bring forth and sprout,
giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,
so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth;
it shall not return to me empty,
but it shall accomplish that which I purpose,
and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.
Do you see a theme for which snow is used? I actually see two, snow is used to compare our hearts cleanness after it has been washed in the blood of Jesus, and snow used as an example for the word of God, not returning void. Snow, like God's Word does not return void, it falls and covers the earth and feeds and waters it. It is also very clean, its water, yet like us it can be contaminated and tainted with sin yet it will never cease to be snow and if there were a way to remove the mud and grime it would once again be pure snow. This is what the blood of Christ does for us, removes our heart of stone and replaces it with a beating heart of flesh that can feel the affections of Christ. We become whiter and cleaner then the purest snow once we are adopted into the righteousness of Christ. For once He took upon himself our sins to pay from them on the cross under the infinite almighty, righteous wrath of God, we were provided a way to be purified. This is the most beautiful thing in the world, the Son would come to earth, the perfect, all holy God, to take upon Himself the bloody, dirty, filthy sins of the whole world for all time and to bear the righteous, unrestrained wrath of the Father on a cross, shamed before those he was dying for, for no other reason then to save for Himself a people for His own possession that they might be to the glory of His name for all of eternity. Christ bore so much more then just the pain of a death on a cross, He bore the wrath of Almighty God that would have fallen on you and me for all of eternity in Hell. He died on account of His wrath over our sin, He killed himself for us, but not that we would be freed only, but that we would be freed from sin that we might be enslaved to righteousness and pursue holiness with the same passion a vigor in which we once ran after sin. "O soak here Christian, for there is no better place to linger!"
Localized and sporadic at this sandy site and co-occurring with a close legume relative (in tribe Amorpheae), Parryella filifolia (common dunebroom), a shrub and subshrub that is much more abundant. Annual bromegrasses were essentially absent from this area.

Although very localized to very south central Montana in open dry settings, Astragalus hyalinus (the bluish green mats) occurs on a diversity of substrates and in different sagebrush communities, including those dominated by Wyoming big sagebrush, black sagebrush, and birdfoot sagebrush, Artemisia pedatifida, as shown here. Eriogonum pauciflorum, Stipa comata, Platyschkuhria integrifolia, and Machaeranthera grindelioides are also common in this view. This site is in the sagebrush steppe just to the east of Warren Montana.

Fig. 4. Localization of d - zein RNA (panels A and C) and protein (panels B and D) in developing rice seeds. d - zein-3’ nos RNA is directed to the prolamine protein bodies (PBs) (panel A) where its protein is located (P, panel B). Note the yellow circles indicating overlap between RNA (green)
and prolamine PBs (red). d - zein-3' glutelin RNA is localized to the CER (note little overlap between RNA in green and prolamine PBs in red in panel C) and its proteln is observed In the glutelin protein body (G). Gold particles in panel B represent d - zein antigen. Large gold particles(circled) in panel D represent d- zein antigen while small gold particles represent glutelin antigen.
