GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN - This local cabinet has been simply but effectively updated by painting the entire exterior in fresh white. The quality of the wood inside was such that we just left it as-is rather than hiding it with more paint. A very nice addition either to a modern or a more retro decor.

SET 2 – Oxford Kroger, Post-Expansion
My shot of this wall blurred just a little bit in my attempt to snap it quickly, but even still you get the gist: this wall is full of local art pieces, very well done and depicting landmarks, scenes, and famous folks from both Oxford and Ole Miss, as well as two quotes from William Faulkner. Even absent the insane amount of local flair this store has, Kroger has made it a point to showcase artwork or murals in each of its new stores, like we saw back in Hernando. This almost seems to be an industry-wide thing at this point, actually, given that numerous Walmart remodels have similarly brought along murals (Southaven, Hernando, Ridgeland, etc.) as has the Horn Lake Target remodel (spoilers!). Really glad to see that sort of thing taking hold :)

BTW this was taken at ISO3,200 with the 5D mk III and a second BTW, the shot has been ever so slightly softened in Lightroom as the 5D3 is just sooooo sharp with my 24-105mm lens.

Carrying the large camera around any town with an imposingly large lens. Always proves to be a real chalenge when trying to look discrete. But this local stopped me insisting for a profile pic. — in Yangon.

# Three :- The Local
the local off licence, a very familiar buliding with many trips made to it in the quest for alcohol during my youth. Only now have I really seen it for all its illuminated glory as one of the beautifully lit up shop fronts that make up st.ive's night time landmarks. Again I love how this is like a window into peoples lives, as the glowing curtains in the top window show this is the owners livelihood and there home. Shot with my Nikon 50mm

SET 2 – Olive Branch Kroger, Post-Remodel
Skipping ahead just a tiny bit along the rear actionway, up next we find this cool “Discover Local” four-way display, with some new graphics (which I’ve since seen at various other Delta Division stores, but this one was my first, if I remember correctly). In the background we’ve got the dairy department wall, which is very flat but at least has some stencils to break up the otherwise monotonous blue color. We’ll revisit that here soon, but we’ve still got a couple more meat department shots before we move forward… I just liked the way this one was framed, haha.

My husband's union had it's annual retirement dinner celebration this weekend. This was the third year in a row they have ordered the cake from me. Congratulations brothers...I think the cake says it all!
Doing an experiment for my food blogging. This is one week's groceries when we just buy what we want with a focus on local stores and organic. Next week we'll set a fixed budget based on what the USDA says a family of two should be spending (which will be half of what we spent this week).
