Op 19 november organiseerde NS International in samenwerking met de NVBS een afscheidsrit voor zowel de NS-serie 1700 als de DB BordBistro-rijtuigen. De rit begon en eindigde in Amersfoort, op spoor 2 hadden zich daarom ‘s ochtends een kleine honderd fotografen verzameld, dat zijn er veel, maar is nog niks vergeleken met de 1200-reünie in 2011. Om 9:36 kwam de 1761 vanaf de Bokkeduinen station Amersfoort binennrijden met aan de hak afscheidsstam 7708 en loc 1750 achterop, de aanwezigen hadden geluk, want de zon deed even zijn best om door de bewolking heen te steken. In de drukte was wel een fotolijn ontstaan, echter op een in mijn ogen niet ideale plek, daarom besloot ik iets verder naar achteren te gaan staan, met een kleine verhoging kreeg ik de trein vrij, maar kon toch ook de sfeer van de drukte vastegelegd worden, er konden immers nog genoeg “normale” foto’s gemaakt worden deze dag.
