A paler specimen. The colour variations are not indicative of gender. To sex them, one has to look at the belly, the male's is bright and spotted, the female's uniform and drab.

I think this is an eastern fence lizard (Sceloporus undulatus). He seemed largely unperturbed by the 500ft drop directly off the edge of the rock he was sitting on. I named him Steve.

Changeable Lizard Hiding in the Trees in Yala National Park, Sri Lanka.

Zootoca vivipara. After finding this Common Lizard in my living room (see previous photo text) I placed it on top of a bench in my garden where it could bask and also had cover close at hand. Hopefully it will find enough food and a place to hibernate and will emerge next spring.

Also known as Common Lizard although not as cool sounding. These lizards look quite insignificant at a distance. Up close though their differing scale colours and patterns are incredible. The amazing world of macro!

Zauneidechse / Sand lizard / Lézard des souches

Saw this lizard at our backyard. It was, er, shiny. And it looks like a damn snake with legs ;A;. I'm afraid of lizards, actually. hehe. Thank God for long lenses.
