This beautiful Grade II-listed building is on the quayside at Boscastle in North Cornwall. According to British Listed Buildings the cottage dates from around the mid-1800s, possibly with earlier origins.
Boscastle harbour is a natural inlet protected by two stone harbour walls built in 1584 and is the only significant harbour for 20 miles along the north Cornish coast. Once a small port importing limestone and coal, and exporting slate and other local produce, these days it is simply home to a handful of small inshore fishing boats and a couple of small pleasure craft.
This 17th century timber-framed building in the High Street in Church Stretton, Shropshire, is believed to have once been the coach-house to the building on the far right, though that dates from the following century. It has been converted to form two shops with living accommodation of the first floor. Some restoration has been undertaken in the 20th century, and the building is Grade II-listed.
The pretty little town of Church Stretton is at the heart of the Shropshire Hills, and has 87 listed buildings in the immediate area.

This beautiful former farm building, known as Merrybent Hill, has the date 1688 carved into a lintel. It is a few miles to the north of Slaidburn, in the middle of the Forest of Bowland - an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Grade II-listed building now advertises itself as a B&B. In the distance can be seen Pendle Hill, which rises to 1,827 feet above sea level. The story of the Pendle witches is a notorious example of cases brought against alleged witches in 17th-century England.
This shot was originally posted in 2023, but was accidentally deleted.
Detail of Baltic Quay, Boat Lifter Way, Surrey Quays. The building was designed by architects Lister, Drew, Haines, Barrow and completed in 1989.

Our guided walk started in Lister Lane cemetery- and what a stunning place, such an abundance of wild flowers. The Cemetery has been recognised as a Significant Cemetery in Europe, one of only 13 in the UK, putting it alongside such famous cemeteries as Highgate in London! www.visitcalderdale.com/see-and-do/lister-lane-cemetery/
Cley was once one of the busiest ports in England, where grain, malt, fish, spices, coal, cloth, barley and oats were exported or imported. The many Flemish gables in the town are a reminder of trade with the Low Countries. But despite its name, Cley has not been "next the sea" since the 17th century, due to land reclamation. Some of the buildings that once lined the quay remain, notably Cley Windmill, which is Grade II*-listed and, according to Wikipedia, dates from 1819. This is one of the most famous landmarks on the North Norfolk coast. These days it provides holiday accommodation.
The marshes around Cley are internationally important for their populations of rare breeding and visiting birds. Cley Marshes bird reserve has been in the care of the Norfolk Wildlife Trust since 1926, making it the oldest county Wildlife Trust reserve in Britain. The village of Cley lies within the Norfolk Coast AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) and the North Norfolk Heritage Coast.
I'm no seaman (stop sniggering) and I don't really know my starboard from my port side when it comes to ships but one thing I do know is that this old rust bucket was definitely listing.
And for those who don't know what "listing" means I am about to educate you (or at least Wikipedia will).
"'Listing' is a nautical term to describe when a vessel takes on water and tilts to one side."
You're welcome. :)
** Thanks to zzapback and caterham.chris who reliably inform me in their comments below that this is the 'Royal Iris', a former Mersey Ferry, that apparently has had the Beatles perform on it's deck and has hosted Queen Elizabeth. Makes it all the more a pity to see it in this sorry state.

This was the first shot I took when joining Muddy Boots and Pete Rowbottam for an evening trip to Lytham to capture this wreck of "Celestial Dawn", before it is eventually dragged off to Liverpool for a refit and makeover!
Whilst the light here isn't as spectacular as the sunset a little later, the yacht itself actually looks more forelorn as it is listing sideways more as the tide was lower when we first got there. I also liked a little more of the foreground mud leading to the boat itself. Sorry for posting one more of this, but I liked it!
The little bison "red dogs" were at the top of my Springtime Yellowstone list. So much fun to watch them.

The white List West lighthouse is located on the Ellenbogen peninsula on Sylt. It was built by the Kingdom of Denmark and is not only the northernmost lighthouse, but also the northernmost building in Germany. It is also the oldest lighthouse on the west coast of Schleswig-Holstein and the first lighthouse in Germany made of cast iron.
Leuchtturm List West
Patagonia has been on this photographer's 'bucket list' for many a year. Last month I spent two incredible weeks addressing this shortcoming.
The first image I want to share from the trip is of this small waterfall near Laguna Capri in Argentina's Los Glaciares National Park. We started hiking at 4am but this view was worth every step.
The dynamic range was wicked, so this is a blended image of 6 shots each taken with a one stop exposure difference.
Even without a dramatic colorful sunrise, the fall leaves and incredible view of Mt. Fitz Roy left me awed.
More to come!

It was on a beautiful day that I decided to make a long exposure on the Unesco World Heritage list, which resulted in this photo that I am very happy with......the waving reed collar also appealed to me...
When one thinks of legendary racing cars of the late 1950s, words like sleek, sexy, and dramatic come to mind. Cambridge manufacturer Brian Lister’s offering was all of the above, but it found its groove in rather unique contours that nonetheless gave it the popular nickname “Knobbly”.
Designed by Brian Lister to meet windshield height regulations set by the FIA, while also minimizing the frontal area of a car powered by a rather large three-liter Jaguar engine, its aluminum body featured a large central bump covering the engine, which fell off in wide grooves on either side and aft, and incredibly curvaceous streamlined fenders and headrest. The result was an athletic-appearing, distinctive racing car that took the sporting world by storm when it made its debut in February 1958.
We had a really enjoyable visit to Berwick upon Tweed whilst we were on holiday. We walked along the River Tweed to the Royal Border Bridge which you can see in the distance. It is a Grade I listed railway viaduct built between 1847 and 1850. The bridge in the middle is the Royal Tweed Bridge built between 1925 and 1928 and finally the bridge in the foreground is Berwick Bridge, known as The Old Bridge. It is a Grade I listed stone bridge built between 1611 and 1624, so no wonder it is called The Old Bridge

Then... I can get started on the other factions. The blued out ones are two Vic Viper-types I'm saving for Novvember.
The fighters are in historical order as they entered service, from left to right, top to bottom.
Filling the tank of an ancient 'Lister' stationary engine, on display at the Westport street fair.... One can make the analogy that old engines like this are like the old men who maintain them... they're no longer at the forefront of technology; they're somewhat finicky, weigh too much, leak unexpectedly, and create noxious fumes. Still, they refuse to quit running if given a bit of attention and/or a swift kick. Replacement parts are hard to come by at best, and thoughts of a catastrophic failure loom every time one pushes the machine too hard. Still, it's best to be of some use, rather than rusting away and collecting dust...
St Editha is an Anglican parish church and Grade I listed building in Tamworth, Staffordshire. It is the largest medieval parish church in the county and most is 14th century and 15th century work with some 19th century additions. The present building stands on the ground where successive churches have stood since the 8th century. The first church was destroyed, along with the town, by the Danes in 874.
