Lister 'D' at Andover
My 1936 Lister 'D' type stationary engine 125428 at the Andover Silver Jubilee Rally in June 1977 which, apart from celebrating the Queen's 25th year as Monarch was coincidentally the 25th steam rally held at Andover. As you can see it is raining and judging by the boys' parka and duffle coat would seem to suggest it was very cool for June as well.

In the 1970s I worked as a Residential Social Worker and as weekends were usually a busy time for me, the only chance I had of attending rallies was if some of the lads came with me. Three (sometimes four) of them became regulars enjoying the vintage scene with me on a weekend. Inevitably it rained, parkas and old jeans or shorts were the usual rally uniform for the boys, and wellington boots saved cleaning mucky shoes or trainers on our return home!
The boys pictured here were two of my regular rally assistants at that time and had travelled with me from London to attend this rally. They are sitting in a make-shift shelter constructed from a wind-break with a waterproof sheet over the top.
