Walking back I was fascinated by the perfect reflections of the cliffs in these small watery rock pools. There is a really good photo there waiting to be taken, so I will return, perhaps earlier in the tide cycle.

MM theme: Four Elements

Absolute beginner to splash shots so open for any help especially lighting the subject.

This week's Macro Monday's challenge was more difficult than I expected, especially because I was trying to catch the motion of the drop...

We are here to drink your water

for "Macro Mondays" theme is "Liquid"!

As Tears Go By by The Rolling Stones

It is the evening of the day

I sit and watch the children play

Smiling faces I can see

But not for me

I sit and watch

As tears go by

My riches can't buy everything

I want to hear the children sing

All I hear is the sound

Of rain falling on the ground

I sit and watch

As tears go by

It is the evening of the day

I sit and watch the children play

Doin' things I used to do

They think are new

I sit and watch

As tears go by

Revisiting the refraction exercise. This is my second attempt at this photography and this time used red striped wrapping paper as the background but then blended different hues in Photoshop.

My previous attempt is here

so please have a look and compare. Thanks for looking anyway!

I used a speedlight flash positioned behind and above the glasses and fired remotely through a diffuser umbrella. This time trying not to get the reflections as I had before.

I'm not sure what I think about AI generated art in general, I did read an article that Mid Journey used millions of photos without the consent of the creators.

I found this little guy in my pool back in August, and fortunately, he was still alive. August marks the mating season for our local tarantulas, when males leave their burrows in search of love. Unfortunately, this one found himself in a bit of trouble and nearly drowned.

Oddly, he was leaking a liquid from his abdomen. it wasn't blood, as their blood is bluish. And it definitely wasn't waste either, which is typically white. I'm puzzled as to what that brown fluid could have been.

Chappell Roan: Good Luck, Babe!

Continuing the 'Dam' theme, here's another from my recent visit the Elan Valley in Mid Wales on Tuesday.

This is a close up of the lowest of the series of dams, Caban Goch, which was designed to become a giant waterfall at times of excess rainfall, as the extra water spills over the top and runs down the 120 foot face.

This is one of the two flow regulators at the base of the dam, which during times of lower water levels let water out to maintain the flow of the river Elan and the River Wye that it flows into.

As you can see, when we visited, there was no need to open the valves as the reservoir was seriously overflowing and the regulator was getting a right pounding.
