First peek at the freshly screened "IN GOD WE TRUST" print edition…. an image from the vaults that never got transformed into a proper full on, colour version.
After hearing the recent news story (under reported in my opinion but maybe that's due to the looming, London Mayoral elections) that some of our Police force still have archaic and bigoted views, ( story here www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2012/apr/17/police-officer-accused-... ) I felt incensed enough to get up and do a new street piece especially for PC Alex MacFarlane and to any other sympathetic members of the constabulary.
To be honest putting this piece together was a pretty uncomfortable experience but after a lot of thought and questioning I decided to hit it hard, I could have watered it down but then that's just not my style. To give the work some credence I combined actual images of the Al Jolson statue & the (1927) Jazz Singer poster + some obvious inclusions to make it work and sit comfortably with me.
Here's the finished result, placed a stones throw from Beckton Sewage works, London E16 (ironic I feel as this kind of thing stinks in this day and age).

After much toing and froing, hard graft to get the image right and a whole bunch of people sending me messages, I decided that it was too good an image not to release as a print edition. After all, it's not a made up image, my print is just a celebration of what actually happened, creative rioting, quality stuff.

As part of the the opening night celebrations at London West Bank (see previous photo) I'll be releasing a his 'n' hers special royal wedding commemorative mini print to celebrate the big occasion.
Limited to 40 prints at only 40 quid a pop available on the night.... and as a little incentive the first 10 people through the door get a free one.
I've had the idea for a while to do a portrait of THE PRODIGY using ANTS and I finally found the time to get some rubber ant stamps produced and then build up a legion of the little critters to form the basis of the piece.
I ran some of the mock-ups past Keith, Liam and Maxim and they came back with "Man, we all luv this shit, its large" so we're hooking up again to do some print editions. As we speak I'm screening some test colours so hopefully we'll be ready to go with a release in the next couple of weeks if the guys can find time to sign them and all that.

NEW PRINT EDITION IN THE WORKS...
With my increasing passion for making screen print editions as unique as possible, this set is well, not exactly hand finished but hand started. There's nice mix up of coloured paper, distressed gold and metal leaf and some aerosol laid down to create some cool texture and colour combos.

The Stefonovich Family grew out of my boredom with the traditional roles of Barbie and her compatriots. It all began in 1980 when my Malibu Skipper doll seamlessly made the transition from wholesome teen beachbum to a crazy lady with a penchant for late night yodeling/opera singing sessions. Her name was Stefonovich. She began terrorizing the other Barbies, a one girl barrage of spastic annoyance. Stefonovich was alone in her efforts to tempt the other Barbies away from their bland domestication until I met my childhood best friend, who coincidentally was also named Heather. She immediately embraced my demented ideas and it was the power of our friendship as two misfit girls that was the fertile soil from which the Stefonovich Family grew. There are sixteen members that span 3 generations ranging from Great Auntie Arthritis down to the youngest; the diminutive Windex. They each had their own distinctive personalty, voice and fashion sense. I’ve decided that It's due time that they become immortalized and emerge for the world to see in this series of portraits that I have created. I had so much fun making these, I hope you enjoy them too. It is with great pleasure that I present the first installment: Turnon.
Stefonovich Family, Fig. 12 (Turnon) is a 6 X 8.5" Gocco print on 8.5 X 11" recycled, acid free, archival quality, heavy chipboard. It is my original artwork Gocco printed in 3 layers; orange, dark rust and metallic gold ink. It is a limited edition of 50 prints and is signed and numbered. It would look great framed or hung by a clip, alone or paired with other members of the family.

This is my first drawing that went into print. I was commissioned by the Food & Fiber Institute, a division of the Texas Dept. of Agriculture, to do a mural as part of a display at the Texas Tech University Museum, highlighting the wool & mohair industry in Texas. This was my original drawing for the mural and the people in charge felt like we needed to do some other things with the art, so we did a limited edition print. That was in 1981.
