Latitudes 10th Anniversary Limited Edition Tote Bags

In Spring 2015 Latitudes celebrates its 10th anniversary and Latitudes marks the occasion by presenting a limited edition of silkscreened tote bags featuring designs by four artists with whom Latitudes has collaborated over the past decade: Lawrence Weiner, Haegue Yang, Ignasi Aballí and Mariana Castillo Deball.

The bags are made from natural durable cotton canvas with a reinforced base. They feature a press-stud closure, an internal pocket with a zip, an adjustable shoulder strap, as well as smaller handles for carrying like a briefcase.

Each bag have been hand silkscreened at Print Workers in Barcelona; this is an artisanal process and each printing results in slight variations.

Price: 50 Euros + shipping.

The Moleskine Limited Edition Leather Diary packaging was done with colored paper cardboard. To hold the notebook in place inside the furoshiki, a cardboard with two flaps was used as a placeholder to hold the notebook and then taped onto the furoshiki.

The placeholder's paper is so beautiful and tough I couldn't just throw it away, besides the red and black color contrast is so eye-catching I now use it as a bookmark on my recent reads. A great thing about doing a bookmark this way is that it won't be lost as easily because the flap actually grabs a dozen pages with large enough friction.

What's missing here is a Moleskine logo. It will be so cool to look at a closed book with such a Moleskine bookmark :)

Ignasi Aballí’s design is a nod to 'Nothing, or Something', his project at Suitcase Art Projects / Today Art Museum, Beijing, that Latitudes curated in 2009. This project centred on the artistic history of absence and comprised a series of display windows of a retail centre which drew attention to mundane or invisible materials such as dust and newspapers, light and air. Ignasi’s bag is a mischievous take on slogan apparel, a bold statement (in Helvetica, naturally) printed in barely visible ink. By showing the first side you would reticently declare “NOTHING”, or by deploying the reverse side you could display the skeptical catch-all message: “SOMETHING”.

This bag is one of four limited-edition silkscreened totes produced on the occasion of Latitudes’ 10th Anniversary.

Fun fact about me: long before I collected dolls, I was an anime/video game figure collector! I started collecting around 12 and collected pretty actively until I was about 21. I took a break after that and sold a lot of stuff and then around 23 moved into collecting Pullips. In the last few years, I've kind of gotten back into figure collecting, but at a much smaller scale. I'm all about balance these days (because otherwise I'd have no money!).

This is the limited color version of the Princess Serenity petit chara that's being sold at the Roppongi Hills exhibit. Unfortunately, I wasn't in Japan for it so I had to order her on eBay for a pretty significant markup, but she's worth it! Her hair and dress are pearlized and I love her original manga colors so, so much.

Also included are two pictures of my very small modern Sailor Moon collection. I will probably eventually get all of the figuarts, but no more petit charas unless they're special cases like Serenity here.
