We escaped to nature at a nearby trail in Cupertino, California. I took this shot with a 4mm super wide-angle fisheye lens that has a 210° angle of view. It is rather difficult NOT to be in the picture with your feet, hands or head.
I processed a balanced, a paintery, and a photographic HDR photo from three RAW exposures, blended them selectively, carefully adjusted the color balance and curves, and desaturated the image. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

It was very hot when we went to visit the city of Varese in Italy. To escape the heat we drove up to Sacro Monte di Varese, a medieval village on top of a hill. In the center is the Sanctuary, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The houses are built very close together. Our Transylvanian friend organized an exhibition up there, so we got a private tour to a at that time closed museum. This is the view from the museum over part of the town.

Hakone Gardens, a Japanese garden in Saratoga, California, was open at night for cherry blossom viewing in April. It was a a wonderful experience, the drizzling rain contributed to the mystical atmosphere. When I left I passed by a small bamboo garden, where a light casted barcodes on the ground.
I processed a paintery and a balanced HDR photo from three RAW exposures, merged them selectively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves for one version, then desaturated the result for another version. I welcome and appreciate your critical feedback.

Quality night out in the cave tonight with Chris T, James De Luna and Phill Fisher. We started early so it was good to chat whilst waiting for the darkness to descend. Once it did we got cracking.
The lasers and light were in place from Chris T's shot so I thought I could use them. Pointed the camera on the CRT away from the lights and rotated them 8 times. 2 seconds of exposure before lens capping and rotating 45 degrees. Swapped tripods and Phill kindly took up position whilst I span the wool behind him. I think tripod 2 moved as Phill ended up off to one side and it does tweak the ocd a little but I'm not going to loose any sleep over it.
Great to catch up chaps and I had a top night.

Like so many, we experience cabin fever after spending a month at home in isolation. On Sunday we escaped to nature for a photoshoot at a nearby trail in Cupertino, California. We had fun experimenting with different poses. I love this gnarly oak tree and the footbridge, perfect for a photoshoot. To take this shot I had to step back into a field of poison oak - I carefully trampled some plants to avoid the urushiol oils.
I processed a photographic, a paintery, and a smooth HDR photo from three RAW exposures, blended them selectively, carefully adjusted the color balance and curves, and added a Silver Efex Pro 2 filter to get this old postcard look. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

Chur, the oldest town in Switzerland is always a treat to visit. The city is located in the Swiss Alps, and is the regional capital of the Canton Graubünden (Grisons.) The old part of the town is well preserved, and is car free. This is the old guild house of the winemakers, which is now a hotel and restaurant. It's a delight to walk in the streets, see all the shops and restaurants operating indoors and outdoors. Something I miss in the USA.
I processed a balanced, a paintery, and a photographic HDR photo from four RAW exposures, blended them selectively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

Like so many, we experience cabin fever after spending a month at home in isolation. We escaped to nature at a nearby trail in Cupertino, California. There were cute little flowers sitting in a bell.
I processed a photographic, a balanced, and a paintery HDR photo from two RAW exposures, blended them selectively, carefully adjusted the color balance and curves, and added a "wet rocks" Silver Efex Pro 2 filter to highlight to plant in the center. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

A bit south of Carmel-By-The-Sea along the California coast is a tiny valley covered in lily flowers in late winter and early spring. We went there for sunset. This place used to be a hidden gem, but now it tends to get crowded on weekends. I am using a vintage Dream Lens for this shot, which produces strong lens flares when a bright object like the sun shines into the lens.

From my archives, March 2022!
Thank you for taken your time to visit me, comments or faves are always much appreciated!
I've always been partial to a silhouette within a silhouette ever since seeing Led Eddies Foggy masterpiece. Heres my version shot during a colab with Chris T at T' mine in Derbyshire. I got there nice and early for a bit of an explore around the area and a little daytime landscape action whilst waiting for it to go dark. Which took ages. Faffed about with a couple of other shots for a while then formulated this one.
Custom WB, smoke grenades, laser, gelled flashgun and gelled torch.
Bedways is bestways.
This is number 178 of my 365. Cool.
Walking through the Old Elbe Tunnel. I'm pretty sure I saw duct tape used in a few places and why do I keep hearing water dripping??
I created loads of different black and white optical illusion type shots using a fractal app on my phone. The type of thing which makes your eyes go funny when the screen moves.
I decided to put one to good use as an overlay for a white background headshot.
White bed sheet strung up on the curtain rail, 1 x Yongnuo 560iv about two feet away on full power @24mm and the 50mm Pentacon on the camera. On tripod two I set up the camera with the Pentax 28mm on the macro rings, focused on the black and white creation on my phone while composing how it would interact with the features of my head.
Once happy I added both the elements together during a single long exposure.
Happy days.

...Just a look
a pupil only for all things.
For dawn and dusk,
for love and hate,
for the lover and the executioner,
the dove and the viper,
the star and the firefly.

In a break from the painful (for me) process of editing and up-loading photos for my new Album "Anteprima Design Week" where many more pictures are yet to come, I've done this work using four of my photos taken at Euroluce 2023: 3 photos of special glass neon tubes displayed all over from the ceiling to two meters above from the flooring of a peculiar dark hall (exhibitor "Preciosa") and 1 photo of golden pepitas.
It was a while I was missing to do new Planispheric Art and this here has indeed been inspired by my awesome visit at the Salone del Mobile. No need to say I had fun to digitally paint over in my freehand style.

Long exposure portraiture tonight. Not over the moon with the results but there's always tomorrow.
Beauty dish camera left gelled orange. Bare snooted flash behind me both fired at the start of the exposure. Next came a 180 flip of the black fibers from www.lightpaintingbrushes.com
for the bokeh.

While the girls went shopping in Varese, Italy, my Transylvanian friend showed me the Palazzo Estense and its magnificent gardens. The palace was originally the residence of Francesco III of Este, and now serves as the town hall. A father and son walked through the hallways when the sun was low.

The Stanford Powwow happens every Mother's Day weekend at the Stanford University campus in California. Indigenous people of America gathered from all over the USA and Canada. Groups of many different tribes form a big circle around an arena. The tribes drum and chant, one group after the other, while dancers in traditional regalia dance in the arena. Elders judge the performances - it's a friendly competition. We could feel the energy, a real uplifting experience! Head drummer Jeremy and a 5 year old kid hold a prayer at the drum after the performance.
I processed a photographic and a balanced HDR photo from a JPG exposure, blended them, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.
