Male frigate bird nesting on the ground.
The great frigatebird (Fregata minor) is a large seabird in the frigatebird family. Major nesting populations are found in the Pacific (including the Galapagos Islands) and Indian Oceans, as well as a population in the South Atlantic.
The great frigatebird is a lightly built, large seabird up to 105 cm long with predominantly black plumage. The species exhibits sexual dimorphism; the female is larger than the adult male and has a white throat and breast, and the male's scapular feathers have a purple-green sheen. In the breeding season, the male is able to distend its striking red gular sac.
The species feeds on fish taken in flight from the ocean's surface. They feed in pelagic waters within 80 km (50 mi) of their breeding colony or roosting areas. – Wikipedia

A Killdeer treads lightly through the water in search of food, a rather quick little bird, hard to photograph sometimes because it's always on the move. I was fortunate enough to come across a few of these in a marshy area that I frequent.

CSX AC44CW no.s 465 and 487 are seen alone descending down the Hell Gate Bridge approach, crossing the Astoria Line at Astoria-Ditmars Blvd station. The two locomotives, both sporting the outdated YN2 "Bright Future" paint scheme, were heading to pick up a cut of cars from the New York & Atlantic at Fresh Pond Yard, and returned the other way around an hour and a half later.
Ecuador
Attractive bird found in a variety of semiopen and lightly wooded habitats, mainly in drier areas of the Andes, as well as across the lowlands from northern Argentina to southern Brazil. Usually in pairs or small groups, not with mixed-species flocks. Forages low to high in shrubs and trees. Male is colourful, with a bright blue head and yellow underparts and rump; back is greenish in Chile and north in the Andes to Ecuador, but black in eastern lowlands. Female is rather drab and is best identified by stout bill and presence of males.

FCEN 59 is the last high hood Geep operating on any of the Florda Pinsly railroads. The GP18 is paired with former CN GP9RM 7033 leading two loaded tanks of waste oil from Safety-Kleen Systems in Silver Springs Shores back North on the lightly overgrown branch into Ocala, FL. All other high hoods have been chopped or retired, with FCEN 60 having been chopped down most recently. These are the only two units currently operating on the Florida Northern Railroad out of Ocala, FL. Everything is handled by a one-man crew on the Florida Central / Pinsly railroads these days, with the remote control box thankfully hanging on the ex-CN unit. While I was hoping to get the high hood leading South, I was lucky to catch both paired up as often times the GP9RM is used as the sole power. Here they are shortly before entering the street trackage in town, which unfortunately came with a big front shadow.

Warm light and fresh snow - a combination made in heaven. The snow did make walking across the rocks tricky. We had to test every step. Talk about nubes.

Lightly iced. Just enough for tranquillity from some spots, but too heavily iced in others. Very different from 2 days ago. No wind today, but no blue sky either!
