At this outing, I met some new friends for the first time, and there I was, flat on my stomach peering up at this lovely lavender. I can imagine the first impression I made! LOL - anything for the shot.

Dug into some images of my first trip to Death Valley to find this one I hadn't shared. Really missing getting out there this year, but I'm pretty sure I'll be back in 2022. Badwater Basin is such a great spot to wander around.
By the way, *sarcasm* I'm glad it's raining again...I was afraid my yard would lose it's swamp status. I think we're supposed to see the sun next Saturday. Have a great weekend!

Due to a long drought we didn't mow and our fields filled up with Dandelions as a ground cover. Then when they started to fade and winds came up it was like fluff snow flying about. Quite a unique event.

The tension was palpable and the horses were unsteady. With day relenting to night, it was there but just barely visible in the flickering lantern light, the sole evidence of the persistent force that had been tracking the duo for the last couple of days.
The foe was clever, but luckily T was sharper still. With her keen senses and an ability to track even the most elusive of creatures, she had picked up on the tail quickly and so far, they were one step ahead, but who could guess for how long.
It had been a risky move following the road, but the temptation of cutting multiple days off their journey had been too great, and now they were paying the price. Circling back to outmaneuver their unwanted traveling companion, this was just the first move in what would surely be a long game of cat and mouse. The stakes were high, and nothing was certain.

Lightly, lightly, very lightly,
A wind passes very lightly
And goes away, always very lightly.
And I don’t know what I think
And I don’t want to know.

Ginkgo leaf. All the yellow bokeh behind it is the light shining through all the Ginkgo leaves on the massive tree. The most stunning tree on our Street. Too bad it's not mine.
Another first for this year - and a happy surprise! I didn't have my macro lens with me, but I think the 35mm coped pretty well.

The mourning dove (Zenaida macroura) is a member of the dove family, Columbidae. The bird is also known as the American mourning dove or the rain dove, and erroneously as the turtle dove, and was once known as the Carolina pigeon or Carolina turtledove. It is one of the most abundant and widespread of all North American birds. In warm areas, one pair may raise up to six broods of two young each in a single year. The wings make an unusual whistling sound upon take-off and landing, a form of sonation. The bird is a strong flier, capable of speeds up to 88 km/h (55 mph). It is the national bird of the British Virgin Islands.
Mourning doves are light grey and brown and generally muted in color. Males and females are similar in appearance. The species is generally monogamous, with two squabs (young) per brood. Both parents incubate and care for the young. Mourning doves eat almost exclusively seeds, but the young are fed crop milk by their parents.
The mourning dove occupies a wide variety of open and semi-open habitats, such as urban areas, farms, prairie, grassland, and lightly wooded areas. It avoids swamps and thick forest. The species has adapted well to areas altered by humans. They commonly nest in trees in cities or near farmsteads. – Wikipedia
