In my new purple office. Gotta love it! Still have to get my custom bookshelves built, but it's almost ready to go. YAY!
This office is actually brightly lit, but taking this picture without the flash gives this overhead light an interesting shape and color.
For some reason ever since I've started taking more photos I've been drawn to light fixtures and the way they glow in photos. This ceiling fan in my parent's living room shows the difference between light and dark, on and off, while the two lights are part of the same fixture.
The extra-ordinary in the ordinary was my inspiration for today. Thank you DPS for posting this to Facebook today. This is fixture is probably the original from the early 50’s and I’ll miss it when I get around to renovating but it is ordinary and I do like how this shot turned out. It will help me remember. It does have an energy efficient CFL bulb. I put them in all my fixtures. They are so much brighter than the original CFL's.
Wrapping the tile all around the bathroom counter really makes this tiny bathroom look bigger.

To get the most out of your kitchen design it well and designate areas for different activities taking place there. One of the most important accessories to blow these areas will be...
#LightFixtures - Changing traditional lamps (incandescent) to flourescent light fixtures is an effective and simple change that anyone could do. Got a new camera for Christmas and I love it! Lightweight, small, and interchangeable lenses.
This was a color-changing light fixture from a local Thai restaurant. I zoomed in and waited for a color I liked. This was SOOC.
Jon and I decided to lay ceramic tile in our kitchen and foyer. We thought this would be a weekend project but it's taking longer than anticipated. There is something to be said about doing this yourself and not paying someone to do it. We had fun but our bodies are sore. Just have to seal the grout and get the trim back up and I will have my kitchen back.
Grandma is redecorating Jordans room, it's so cute, I want my room to look like this!! This chandelier was $40 at Ikea!!!
During a brief break in the rainy weather, I carried my camera with me on a grocery run and took a few shots in the local shopping center that is undergoing a major face-lift. This is the first shot in a series, as seen on different walls with different looks.
Hemingway's wife was fond of elaborate light fixtures and there were tons of them throughout the house. For someone in love with sources of light, it was a picture taking field day.

I'm never content to take one shot. If it's worth shooting once, it's worth shooting 20 to 30 times, an instructor once told me. I think maybe not 30. LOL!!
Not a great photo, but a fun story with a happy ending.
While out on a photoshoot with my friend Kelley, we discovered this female House Finch had flown up inside the globe of this street lamp. The lamp was open from below allowing an unsuspecting bird to fly into the lamp and become entrapped. The bird was furiously trying to get out, was banging its wings against the globe in an attempt to get out. Her little heart was beating quickly and she was panicking. We couldn't walk away from a desperate bird, so we tried to get maintenance to help but they were gone for the day, so a shopkeeper allowed us to use her stepladder. I got up on the stepladder and checked for wiring that might harm me, which there was none. I removed a side pane from the globe, grasped the bird, she gave me a nibble in defense, and after a few more tries with my hand I coaxed her through the hole where she escaped and flew to the nearby tree. She was fine and unscathed from her experience in the lamppost light globe.
