This picture is in direct light because it is very easy to see where the light in this picture is coming from: the light bulb behind the glass light fixture. Some sections of the image are very well illuminated, while others are in moderate or heavy shadow.
There is still a lot more to learn with Blender. I've gotten the modeling down but I still haven't got the textures and lighting figured out well yet.

Four light fixtures have been installed, and five more to go. The photo does not do the lighting justice-- when camera phone focuses in on the light from the fixture, it makes everything else darker... So the garage is actually pretty bright in this photo but you can't really tell.
Renovated Richmond Branch of the San Francisco Public Library. It's quite a nice branch, with books in a couple Asian languages and Russian as well as English.
