The Northwestern National Bank building--now Wells Fargo--is a great example of remnants from an older building adding great retro flavor to a new building. Read about it here: www.flickr.com/photos/darrensnow/50803371438

My favorite picture from inside the Santa Fe Building in downtown Chicago

Alas, not much remains of the old railway terminal in Georgetown. Just an empty shell of rusty zinc sheets and faded shutters.

Among the highlights of our day in port at Barcelona, Spain, was a visit to La Pedrera -- the Casa Milà apartment complex designed by legendary modernist architect Antoni Gaudí and completed between 1906-1912.

After exploring the building's rooftop terrace and attic loft, we headed down one level to The Pedrera Apartment. The unit was opened in 1999 as a permanent exhibition space and is a recreation of a bourgeois family's home as it would have appeared in the early 20th century. The original use of each room has been preserved, and the rooms are filled with period furniture and accessories.

Here, you can see a view of one of the apartment's bedrooms -- more specifically, the floral motif painted on the ceiling and its chandelier. The Pedrera Education site provides additional information on the apartment in the ''Residential Building'' section, including photos of the gallery/corridor and some of the rooms and decor.

Took a shot of the restaurant lighting while waiting for my order...

This composite is made up of 4 photos taken with the same camera and prime lens from the same building during its opening reception.

I forget where that quote's from. Fall Out Boy, maybe. Or Dude, Where's My Car? It's hard to remember.

Anyway. This is our dining room. This is where we feast on the still-beating hearts of our enemies. And cheese. We also eat cheese here. Mmm, cheese.

(Actually, on the cheese tip, here's a little thing I recommend: a slice of Havarti cheese atop a slice of apple. Eat in one pop. Nom nom nom, chew chew chew. Scrumdiddlicious.)

Day 168: Sorry everyone! I veered off the Project 365 path for a handful of reasons. Even though for the past week, I did *NOT* take a photo every day, I'm still going to continue with the project. I was away from an internet connection for three days and not having to upload each day took away some of the urgency to take a daily shot. The rest of the week, I simply let it get away from me. Still, I won't abandon the project, as it's just too awesome of an experience.

Airport terminal expansion project. New lighting to give a more modern urban feel to our airport. I guess this shot reveals what I think of the new design. Still, Fairbanks is a small enough community in that going to the airport to pick up friends and family at 1:00 am, you will see people you know there also picking up someone. A social gathering of sorts. Similar to grocery shopping where you usually run into a friend or two.
