What is it about chipping paint that photographers love? This was on an old school bus that I found abandoned. It was actually horizontal but I thought it looked better as a vertical.
New technology! We now need to use the new energy efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFB). I shot this under an incandescent lamp for general illumination with a high intensity lamp shining through the spirals of the CFB.Then played with it in Photoshop!

EXPLORED #117 on Tuesday, March 6, 2012
Winner of the Orange Enlightenment Contest and featured on Award Tree's front page for a week March 2012.
This started out as a UCM (unintentional camera movement) shot while wandering around one of the University quarters in Oxford, late in the evening. I love to imagine those late-night academics settling down to nights of creative cogitation… it’s not all port and formal dinners, I guess.
It was a scrappy photograph (rated as one star which is barely keepable in my estimation), but looking back at it I rather liked the colours and shapes in the image so I thought I would have a play.
The play, as ever, turned out to be a bit of a marathon over several days. Out a fit of magnanimity, I shall spare you the horrible details (and results). Today I thought I would try Topaz Studio as I hadn’t been there for a while, and I quickly was reminded of how much fun this suite of filters is.
This image is based on the Dramatic Black and White preset that comes with the software, but I have reduced the opacity to let some of the original colours come through, giving it a washed-out look.
Topaz Studio is unsupported now, alas, and hasn’t been updated in a fair while so I am rather hoping some filter vendor will take it over as it’s quite unique and offers so much. Someone said that it’s available free now, or at least on a trial that never seems to end so, if you are interested, it may be worth adding to your collection.
Thanks for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image. Happy Sliders Sunday and 100x.
Just messing around with some old sparklers and a yellow light bulb. Inspired by an evening listening to Gavin Hoey!
Something old.
I was struggling to find something to photograph for this part of the challenge, not because I don't have anything old, but because I am spoiled for choice!
In the end, I went with this old painted 26W night-light bulb, which has been gathering dust on a bookshelf since my daughter was little. I long since replaced all incandescent light bulbs in the house, and have nearly finished replacing the last few compact fluorescent bulbs with LED equivalents. As such, there is no way that I'm ever going to use this bulb again, but it's just too pretty to throw away.

Lightbulb S: bit of fun with an earlier lightbulb shot trying to get the right texture and tone to the light in post. The "high key" background really brings out the shot =)
i just had my favourite photoshoot to date with Sammie.
very little editing was done to these.
the lightbulb and my lens did most of the magic.
i am very pleased and very happy in general today.
p.s. tell me your favourites i may want to post one from below:
