"My dear friend, what do you intend to do? What, if not to believe God's counsels, to believe Truth who cannot deceive? This is his counsel to you: "Come to me, you who are heavily burdened, and I will refresh you.""

Today, 6 October, is the feast of St Bruno, founder of the Carthusians, and this photo was taken in the church of Sta Maria degli Angeli which was once a Carthusian church in the centre of Rome, built into the former Baths of Diocletian.
Made my first attempts at light painting tonight at the end of a shoot with model, Mimi.
This is a 32 second exposure at ISO 100, f/11.
Mimi is lit with a large Mag-Lite. First I traced over her face and legs, then her arms in the lower position. I brought the light around her chest area and she moved her arms to the second and third positions. each time I traced over them 3-4 times which accounts for some of the blurring.
I made sure to trace her head only once to retain sharpness in her facial features.

We've had really bad afternoon storms this week and when I got home from work I discovered my power was out. So I grabbed my camera and went out into the rainy darkness to try to seek some light to take photos of.
This was a basic photo of a green light on the rainy street, but I boosted the color a little. I have another version of this in my light set, but I sort of liked the watercolorish (is that a word) look of this.

The chronology of the Ronda arab bahts starts at the 13th-14th centuries. The bath is divided into three main zones, following the Roman model of thermal buildings:cold water, warm water and hot water bathrooms. The hydraulic system of the thermal bath has arrived to our days almost complete.

I shot a few hours in bright sunlight. Unfortunately, I had to keep my polarized sunglasses off during those hours because they made the lcd screen on my camera go black. The sun exposure temporarily damaged my eyes, so I quickly purchased a pair of unpolarized sunglasses. I eventually noticed that the new pair had tremendous stresses in it, so I took a picture of it.
Capturing an image of the stresses is relatively easy. I back illuminated the glasses with an lcd screen, a cheap polarized light source, and then I took a picture of it with a polarizer on my camera. The background would have been extremely bright white had I not used the polarizer.

Couldn't decide what to go for with the "Redux 2014” theme. Thought about the November 10: Film Noir theme which I did late last time but really enjoyed setting up. In the end, decided to go for July 28: Energy theme since I took the picture while on holiday with my iPhone and was not entirely happy with it.
When you are having difficulty in finding a shot, (not a good thing when doing a 365) follow the light. It will usually lead to something half decent. On my way home with nothing to show for my daily shot I came across this water fountain at the entrance of our neighbourhood with the light shinning through it. Daily shot done!

I had so much time bathing with Ducky. We were messing around for half an hour before we cleaned ourselves up from the soap. We then went our separate ways because Ducky had to do his chores around the house. So, I went out of the bathroom, and then suddenly the lights went out. I am now in total darkness and I can't see nothing. All I can hear is the sound of crickets. Wait a minute, I see light from somewhere. What is this? I feel warm standing next to it.
These are baskets that are used to collect tea leaves in the garden...my husband got them converted into lamp shades...they look gorgeous in the dark
Rescanning some old stuff.. And adding a new frame for my slides.
Now I regret having fixed my SLR against Light-Leaks.
Altadena, CA - In 1920 Altadena resident and Pasadena businessman Frederick C. Nash came up with an idea of lighting the trees for the holidays. He sought assistance from his organization The Pasadena Kiwanis Club and from the City of Pasadena to initially light a 1/4 mile section of the roadway. Over the next few years the lighting expanded until the entire row of trees, 150 in all, were lighted. It is estimated that annually more than 50,000 automobiles travel the avenue during the weeks of the lighting.
It was quite unexpected to see so many people present to see the lights, even a marching band joined in. What you don't see is that each of these trees has a transformer permanently mounted on them - they take this 'lighting of the avenue' quite seriously! The draw of electric lights never seems to get old.
