Is it a wave? Is it a particle? How come it travels so fast (3.0×10⁸ m/s)? Light is so damn cool, and there are so many equations and concepts I could go into, but I'd be here for days.
Minus the crop, this is straight out of the camera.
For Abe: Shmobist: Single light bulb, directly between wall and subject. Fast shutter speed to allow for minimal light and maximum shadow/silhouette .
Long exposure time light painting shot taken on the side patio of our house.
Attached a rope light to a PVC frame and twisted it to make the diamond shape.
Light traced some tulip garden lamps for additional effect.
Fired two SB-800 flashes with orange (ish) colored gels.
Okay, here it goes... my first attempt to make some kind of light painting. It has been captured with Canon 400D with tripod off course. The lines above the orange are basically coming from the small light from my cheap mobile. Hehe...
Is this considered as painting with light already? What do you think?... Hehe. For other technical details, kindly see "More Properties".

Some beautiful selective streaks of light at this loch in Glencoe, check out the trees left in for added perspective and to emphasise the enormity of that valley!

With morning servicing complete, Valley Railroad Consolidation #97 makes her way light across the yard in Essex, CT, headed to the depot to pick up a passenger consist. This 1926 Alco product is the Valley's longest serving steam locomotive, having entered service here in 1973, just two years after the former New York, New Haven & Hartford line was established as a tourist operation. On this particular morning in October of 2024, the locomotive was performing for a photo shoot organized by Dak Dillon Photography.
Elements of "n", and disorder, but mimicking an arch shape as I tried to capture the image of a monument.
Long exposure time shot taken for Light Junkes "Monument" photo challenge; 2/12 - 2/19/10.
Mounted a green LED rope light to a PVC frame and waved it while moving in an arch pattern.
Then fired two SB-800 flashes at the background.
The rope light did a great job of lighting up the patio bricks.

we got invited to go see the other show Gather the Energy. Earlier during our previous exhibition, I had shot them during their performance and we became friends because they liked our work too. ;p the friendship has continued and we try to catch each other everytime we meet. The couple are 2 amazing souls, they told me they would perform even if there was only one soul at their show.
Incorporating live drums by the inhouse drummers in KLPAC, it was an amazing experience watching them, there was some energy vibrating in the atmosphere. It was making my camera screen go whack! The light inside was red yet I was seeing orange! They were red when I got back and downloaded them!
I cannot explain it but heck it was amazing. I was speaking to one of the dancers later, and he reminded me Saturday night was the summer solstice. Explains the energy. I wish more people had taken the risk to go see them, but they didn’t care they performed for the few of us who were there on all 3 performances. The musicians were inspired by them so what else do they need? True artists ;)
Earlier we had been talking about Hope, my photo of the kid from the childrens home, and I told him that wasn’t posed it was all the kids idea.
Our exhibition focused on ordinary objects and people you tend to miss, that if you put enough trust in strangers, you will get amazing adventures. Having travelled the world, he told me of his own experience of blending into the locals, learning someone of their culture to connect with them and treating them as humans and not tourist objects. It helps.

Took this idea from Photo Extremist . Is a very simple light painting using water drops over a CD. Trying to use the reflection on the drops to create the same paterns inside the drops.
