I went to Bosque del Apache for the Sandhill Cranes. There were, of course, lots of other birds and mammals, but for me, it was all about the cranes I'd only seen occasionally through my life, and always from afar. The cranes did not disappoint. There were a few stragglers leaving this roosting area pond on this early morning, so I stayed on this bird for liftoff.
Wondering about all the out-of-focus white stuff, looks like it's snowing? - those are feathers, my friends...

It was a quiet day at Wakodahatchee Wetlands, but this Great Blue Heron gave me some nice shots when it landed in some dark water for a moment or two.
ISO 25600! Even after judicious application of Adobe AI Denoise, it's still pretty noisy but I'm glad to have the shot at all.

Dusk has arrived as a pair of matched Union Pacific EMD SD60s lift an eastbound UP 12th St Yard to A&S Gateway Yard transfer job over the rough industrial scene of St. Louis' riverfront. The train is currently working its way up the west approach to the MacArthur Bridge, which carries the tracks across the Mississippi River connecting both Missouri and Illinois.
