May 28, 149/366 (1610/1827)- Five years ago today I was trying to finish up some work on our second story roof; a ladder bracket bent tossing me about 20-25' onto the railing I am sitting on. It shattered my femur and hip among other problems. For a few brief moments I was dead, but my leg hurt too bad to go to the famous light. My daughter was standing on the edge of that concrete porch and my head bounced off her soft tennis shoes, no doubt saving me from a fatal brain injury.
In those five years I have been through a lot of physical therapy, several surgeries, and some tough times mentally . . . but overall it has been one of the best things that has happened to us. It certainly has given me a new perspective on life, strengthened our family, and keeps me off ladders!
Happy Memorial Day, and remember what the original purpose of this day really means to us.

I have just laid to rest a great unwieldy project. It is not completely vanquished. There will be death throes to deal with before the thing is well and truly put out of its misery. But I have done the bulk of the work, delivered the fatal blow. And for now life is all just chocolate covered cherries.

actually R and I have been friends for about 34 years now! We met when we were about 7 yrs old and we had just moved from ny to "the country" - thats jersey suburbs.
Its nice that we are both living in the same state now, and soon enough ill be living in the same town!

Earlier this week I've met the lovely Miss M in the city and we chilled out for a while on a bench by the water, it was a perfect Summer day, everybody was happy and relaxed, just the way it should be. When she left, I took some shots of her and her bike, that goes by the name of 'Porsche', they're a great team. If you haven't notice it yet, the lovely Miss M is one of the "Brazilian Bikini Babes" :)
