When I was a young girl I loved spending Saturdays in the tiny public library in my home town. It held books that opened the whole big wide world to me. I loved reading about darkest Africa in one book, and then exploring a favorite Nancy Drew. To this day I am an avid reader, which serves me well during the long dark days of winter. Most Alaskan's are voracious readers, so I was delighted to see this homey library located in a small Alaskan village. I thought the entrance was very inviting.

April Fools….. or so they say on the first day of April. Hope you all had a good one!
This building was once the Jefferson Market Courthouse way back when none of us existed. Now it's the library in Greenwich Village. I confess, since I don't wear a watch the building also doubles as my personal clock.

Young people aged 8 to 18 years were invited to join the fun at a long awaited Minecraft gaming event.
Kiama Library had upgraded their public computers and there was no better way to showcase improved hardware than a Minecraft Gaming Night.
Pizza and snacks were served on the night. You had to have your own official Minecraft account to play. Our PlayStation 3’s were also set-up on the night if you wanted to have a quick race of Sonic All-Stars Racing Transformed.
Carnegie library opened in 1906. Grade II listed, it still contains lots of original features, including art nouveau tiles, stained glass, plaster ceiling mouldings, and a wonderful painted tiled frieze in the entrance hall.

Junior literature has been my reading level these days. Not so heavy, full of adventure and imagination, and sometimes even illustrated!
We renewed our tickets to Leeds Castle in Kent yesterday after nearly a couple of years and it was nice to go round and get a few shots. This is one of my favourite rooms and is the library.

Jefferson Hall, completed in August 2008, reflects the Academy’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence. The Cadet Library, the Center for Enhanced Performance and the Center for Teaching Excellence, all providers of student-centered information services, are now consolidated in one central location, directly along the path from the barracks to Thayer Hall.
Modern in design and composition, Jefferson Hall yet incorporates many of the characteristics of Central Area architecture, such as entry arches, limestone window surrounds and multi-paned windows. Special features include 8,000 amber-colored glass blocks on the north exterior wall of the ground floor and terracotta bricks on interior walls. New Hampshire granite, used on the exterior, is also incorporated in the interior walls of the lobby and sixth floor. The upholstered furniture was manufactured in North Carolina, and the wooden tables and chairs in Wisconsin.
