Day 14: lettering identifying the studio space we use at FAU. something of a problem with a leaking roof evident too.
Here I tried to do some old school round lettering with simple highlights and shadows. The square letters give some shape contrast to the round ones. Base forms were made with felt-tip pens with shadows and highlights added in regular ball-point pens and gel pens. Original size about 7 x 4 cm.

The building of the University Library Leuven is a Neo-Renaissance design from the American architects Whitney Warren and Charles D. Wetmore. It was built overlooking the Mgr. Ladeuzeplein between 1921 and 1928.
The names of the American Colleges and Universities, whose donations helped rebuilding the old library that had been destroyed in 1914, are carved in different styles of lettering in the sand stone bricks of the building.
This quick and brief lettering brackets the spread of the birds. Painted with Doctor Martin's watercolors on regular Moleskine pages.
I recently counted over 100 sample PhotoSpills collages that we've posted on social media. This collage celebrates that milestone. Actually, this collage is made of collages that were made of other collages. Kind of goofy, but you can use the same technique to create your own unique works of art.
