as a designer and collector of typography pictures, this french hand-lettering (as well as the wine and cheese) was very appealing to me. this is only missing chocolate.

This is a favorite verse that I've been wanting to "illustrate" with words for a long time. After taking Carl Rohrs' class in the fall, and trying that white on black pointed brush lettering, I thought it would work for this piece.

And I love to color in between words and letters. The colors here remind me of the aurora borealis.

Materials used were Dr. Martin's Bleedproof White, a pointed brush, and Prismacolor pencils on Canson Mi-Teintes black charcoal paper.

Riding his bicycle home Friday, March 29, budding airbrush talent Kyle Cameau, of Vancouver, Washington, collided with a skateboarder, suffered severe head trauma from the fall, and died Easter Sunday, March 31. Kyle, a full-time airbrush artist and pinstriper, was slated to paint the Optimus Prime character for the blockbuster movie sequesl, Transformer's IV. "Kyle was always learning and persevering with his art," Paul Comeau, Kyle's father, shared. " He airbrushed for only three years versus my 25, and he smoked me. He worked with Mike Lavallee, Mitch Kim, Jason Prouty, Jeff Devey, and anyone who would show him something. He was an amazing kid. We worked together at my shop, Comeau Lettering and Pinstriping. He could pinstripe and letter; he could do it all. We wish to thank all the artists and people who have reached out to express how much Kyle meant to them." Kyle is also survived by his mother, Vicki, and sister, Katryn.

Some years ago I bought two books from the 60s containing a course in handdrawn letters and numbers, designed for business (shop) purposes. This is the cover of the number part. The artist responsible for the books was one M. Meijer, head designer for The Bijenkorf, a well-known Amsterdam department store.
