This was a curious evening as it was a brilliant waning gibbous moon coupled with a rising fog resulting in some fun shots & patterns. You could visibly see the fog & energy being emitted moving upward from the ground exactly as displayed in these photos and condensing around the dog. Hopefully they do not use toxic or carcinogenic pesticides or herbicides. Soccer field next door.
This sculpture was created using
sweetgrass, wild grape vines,
and reeds harvested from the
Patuxet River and woven into
various shapes. The installation
is visible from a walkway that
leads visitors to the trail and is
30 feet off the ground.
Not sure where the rest of this deer is but Pancake wanted to bring it home. Looks like it was a young fawn. There was extensive bulldozing going on next door. The things they find.....
Thank you, Mayor Fischer, Jefferson County, Commonwealth of Kentucky and Louisville Metro Government for preserving our Natural Protected Areas here in Kentucky, USA and the fine conservation efforts expended in the process.
I'm sure I got some on my bald tires then trekked it through Virginia, Maryland, DC, PA, NJ on that trip then back to KY.
This "Natural Protected Area" in Louisville, Kentucky, has looked like this for nearly a year. The trees here were cleared approximately 7-8 years ago and the fields were left barren. The stumps were buried on this site also. I'm sure they'll check that prior to erecting any large buildings. This area was in an avian migratory path. The mature trees had provided a noise buffer for the area. I would not recommend living & working in this area unless one is already deaf as the Gene Snyder Expressway is directly to the rear of this site (Exits 29 & 30, I-265). My home is within walking distance from the back of tha water tower shown (if the area were not now under water).
The railroad gates at this crossing have been malfunctioning for at least a decade. They're working on it. A rep from CSX indicated they've gotten worse since installing the "latest and greatest" sensor technology and he is correct. For the past two years these gates randomly raise and lower for no reason, whether a train is close by, present or not. Sometimes after a train leaves. Most people just run them. Sometimes people take the gates with them - I watched this happen one day as a tractor trailer barreled through them taking one with him - I gave him a thumbs up. CSX has cameras pointed at these gates - I don't know how they were not aware of the problem. The CSX rep said the new sensing device is supposed to immediately report to CSX any malfunction. It doesn't. AT&T's there because one of their cell masts is close by - apparently their signals got crossed somewhere.
As of 30 June 2016 I do see CSX out still working at this and other crossings although I was not able to stop or slow down to see what they were working on. I hope something positive.
