Today's court was fascinating (I was there on a fictitious charge). Court consisted almost entirely of disabled individuals, minorities and seniors. Apparently they're the easiest to catch and the police/sheriff's officers don't have to run/drive too far to snag one. It is indeed sad that municipalities prey on these individuals in order to justify their own existence. It was interesting to watch the two individuals in the forefront (my guess is they are husband and wife) as they were touchy-feely and there was definitely a courtroom courship in play - they were all over each other. She kept primping her hair while he was rubbing her forearm & playing footsies. it was a hoot as neither realized we all realized what a farce this courtroom was. They appeared to be attorneys. They did not appear to notice that many individuals in the courtroom were filming/photographing them.

The flourescent lighting in this courtroom gave me a massive headache (metal in my brain, remember?).

According to one of her vets, this is what Pancake is. (she is a working mobility service dog) With a working printer I would love to make 100 copies to hand out to the many, many people who attempt to socialize while she is working and I am trying to accomplish or focus on something (with or without her jacket which states "DO NOT DISTRACT", DO NOT PET, etc.... so once again, to all the curious well-intentioned strangers PLEASE -approach us while she's working and I'll simply try to print out a few hundred copies to hand you or pass out rather than having to resort to other means of "communication" . What kind of dog is she? You want to wait for the long answer? Otherwise, she was presented to me as being a Mastiff.

I'd met a lady the other day whose Son, who was in the military with a serious case of PTSD who'd said he felt it was not worth going out in public with his dog because of all the good-intentioned intrusions or sheer ignorance to what this dog, protected by law, can do, does, and has legal rights to do without interruption from those who cannot and probably will not ever understand. He now chooses to be about and around with only a handfull of people to avoid confrontation. How sad this is for him, his dog, and this speaks volumes of his community environment.

- You like animals? That's nice. MOST humans do.

- Oh, you're allergic to dogs? So am I.

- You're afraid of dogs? Not my problem We do our best to be as considerate of others as we can, however we will not leave a place of business for that reason. You are welcome to leave if you wish.

- When you see a dog in a store - LEAVE IT ALONE. Unless it's a shelter or pet shop and they're advertised as something you can question or touch. It is NOT YOUR JOB to question the dog or the dog's owner, nor is it your PRIVILEGE. We do not want to listen to stories about your friend who travels all over with their dog because they like to and gave it a jacket to gain unwarranted privileges. We do not want to hear about how your Mom has one. We do not want to know your kid has one. We do not want to know you have 5 shelter dogs. We do not need common bonds about dogs to give you a personal sense of satisfaction.

Repeat announcement. Courtesy of the lady who believed she was entitled to pet my dog 7AM today while we were attempting to get a pack of english muffins at a local grocery store. She did ask first while stretching out her arm to the dog. It is not worth it the aggravation having to deal with morons all day long to venture out with an assistance/service/guide dog unless the dog has a jacket or sign saying "Ask me questions. It is OK to pet this dog. Isn't this dog cute - come tell me how much you like animals. We are here for the pets. This is a circus dog with a skirt. This is a trick dog.....etc...." Otherwise, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TOUCH, REACH FOR, FEED OR PET THIS DOG AND DON'T EFFING ASK TO - the handler just MIGHT try to defend their rights.

About the Fusion Center

In an effort to better secure the commonwealth against criminal activity and domestic and international terrorism, federal and state agencies have banded together to create the Kentucky Intelligence Fusion Center to improve intelligence sharing among public-safety and public-service agencies.

The center has been heralded as a milestone in achieving a unified hub to coordinate and connect all levels of law enforcement and public- safety agencies, including fire, health and transportation, and the private sector. A new telephone hotline, 1-866-EYE-ON-KY (1-866-393-6659), is available for residents to report suspicious or criminal activity of any kind.

The principle role of the KIFC is to compile, blend, analyze, and disseminate criminal intelligence and other information (including, but not limited to, threat assessment, public safety, law enforcement, public health, social service and public works) and to support efforts to anticipate, identify, prevent and monitor criminal activity.

The ultimate goal is to provide a mechanism where law enforcement, public safety, and the private sector can come together with a common purpose to improve the ability to safeguard our homeland and prevent criminal activity.
