Such a patient puppy. The girls are constantly messing with him.
This morning they were trying to make him sit and watch Calilou.
Was on a walk this afternoon and i spotted this guy swinging around about 15ft up.
I think it might have been getting an early flying lesson.
For Project Soul Pancake: Admire An Old Building
While living in the Rocky Mountains is great for it's nature, it's quite lacking in any real ancient buildings to explore. While I wish I had some abandonded hospitals or schools or skyscrapers to wander through, I'm afraid that most of our buildings are still very much in use. Since this area really didn't start to develop until the gold rushes in the late 1800's most of our "old buildings" are from that time period, including the one in the photo above.
Built in the early 1900's this building was originally a residential school comissioned by the Canadian Government and run by the Catholic Church to "educate and house" first nations children. Essentially the government, along with the church wanted to assimilate first nations people into "european life" in the new world and this was their way of doing it and it wasn't optional, it was mandatory. For such a beautiful building it holds what I'm sure is a dark history, I tried to find some stories about or some elders to tell me about it but I haven't heard back yet. I feel that this is such a tragic part of Canadian history that often gets overlooked, it makes me sad to think that at the time this was how our government acted. The building stopped being used as a school in 1970's and is now a part of a hotel and resort complex, an attempt at reclaiming the building for more positive uses I suppose. I've only ever been inside this building once and it held in it some very strong vibes and emotions, as it would after being used in such a way.
A couple of weeks ago, Oskar Smolokowski - Head of Camera at Impossible Project - visited the Apple Store in Covent Garden to show off the Instant Lab, and talk Impossible things. He had a prop, I took a snap on my iPhone, passed it through my own (not bisected) Instant Lab...
Every now and again the Japanese Government sponsors children and adaults alike with some lessons in traditional art.
I experienced the last lesson out of 11 where the participants learned about traditional woodcarving. A lot of talking was involved but also a traditional tea ceremony and a lot of happy faces when they saw their prints on a traditional fan (the one people hold in their hands).
SOHN - Lessons
Of lessons learned, of lessons learned
Of bridges burned, of bridges burned
This time I'll do things differently
This time I'd like to need you less
I'm struggling, I'm struggling
I've given in, I've given in
This time I'll keep an overview
This time I'll keep away from you

ALWAYS CHECK YOUR ISO SETTINGS! I had the opportunity to sit down by the water for a bit today, and came back with quite a few shots. Once I opened them in Lightroom, I realized that I had left my ISO settings to 800... resulting in way more grain than I needed.
Luminar2018 helped, but I could have done better.
Sheesh.
Well I adore you all. After I found out about the emails sent to Veronica I made a call. She stated she has know idea what this is all about and that the Gardens are so very sorry for this...her exact words were THE MORE THE MERRIER! She said we are all so welcome to come and that if there were any problems what so ever to ask for the manager on duty and tell him that her and Josh Ok"d the day for us. Now my dear flickr friends What say you? Are we on for next Sunday at the Gardens? By the way she did ask that we not have tripods in the conservatory because of the small pathways. Other than that the day looks right now according to the weather reports to be 56 degrees and SUNNY!
Lesson learned...Ya gotta have friends!
Named after French naturalist Rene Lesson, this colorful motmot is found from S. Mexico to Panama. Seen at Gamboa. Panama.
Shinku had started her Class a day ahead of Ala so that her children would have more time to understand the Lessons and get time to practice.
"Okay little ones its time to learn how to Summon and why we do it," Explained Shinku calling over the little ones to come closer to her.
"Whats summoning?" asked Little Eternity hoping it would be a new toy to play with.
"Come here children and I will show you," Shinku explained sounding sweet and playful with Little Eternity after all she understood that Eternity was 9 so she was not as mature as some of her other students.
As little Eternity looked at Shinku's hand win all of the sudden a light and rainbow came out from her hand! Than as little Eternity followed it she saw Butterflies flying above her head.
"Summoning is the power to call on something or some one and call them to your aid from no matter the distance away they are from you," Explained Young Mariposa in a very sweet but smart manner feeling it was important that the Little girl know how it worked!
"Yes my sweet Mariposa and today we are all going to learn how to Summon a Item and than win we are done we will learn now to put it back," Shinku Explained as she smiled up at both girls seeing she had their attention.
"Oh why do to need to put the Pretty Butterflies back thou," asked Little Eternity as she giggled and reached up to touch the Butterflies.
"Well its all ways important to put the things you Summon back since they do belong to a world of there own its not fair to keep them worlds apart after all they have family and friends they want to get back too," Stated Mariposa now trying her very best to sound super smart in front of Little Eternity.
"Very Good Mariposa your right yes and now that is the end of our class tomorrow you will work with me one on one to learn how to Summon your very own Item from another place," Sweet Shinku said with a smile as she looked up to her little innocent sweet Students faces.
"Can we play with the pretty Butterflies," asked Little Eternity as she giggled and held her arms out like they wore wings.
"Sure sweet hearts have fun with them," Sweet Shinku said bringing her class to a close and letting the girls play. Both girls got up and played with the Butterflies. She wanted and smiled till she had noticed something about one of her little girls...
What in the world," Thought Sweet Shinku as she noticed that little Mariposa looked like she had grown and started to develop in to a young lady. The only parablem with this was that Little Mariposa was only 11 so how the hell did she go from 11 to looking like she was 14 or 15 in just a week?
Thank you for following my stories today we have a 3 different Types of Pure neemo bodies so you can see how they look on the girls.
Little Eternity is on a XS body being its is the smallest.
Mariposa is on a S body that had the look of a young lady still to little to be a Woman just yet.
Sweet Shinku is on a M Body that very much looks like a Young Lady just starting her life as a Woman in the world.
I hope to get a L Body for another girl some time so every one can see how all of them look nest to each other in my photos ^_^
I have sooo missed my camera these past months! Life has led me elsewhere lately...
As artists our view through the lens is an invaluable tool..an extension of ourselves ... always ready to capture inspiration where ever it may be..
Today was 'self teach' day for me, iPad and paper in hand we worked on using MANUAL ONLY with available lighting !!
I LOVE MANUAL !!
and having more control of the end result... especially if it doesn't fit into the "artistic vision" of what the image was in your head... not to mention less time in post-production!!
A win-win no matter how you look at it!
Thank you ALL of my Flickr friends for your visits and your incredible streams that continue to delight , inspire and carry me away each time I visit...Explored # 433 thanks you one and all!!
Was getting pissed off last night looking at the pics of this so had to go back and add to it.
Note to myself- don;t add flares with nearly empty can......lesson learnt!
This Moorhen was swimming around in one of the ponds with two young chicks. Probably teaching some well needed lessons at this early stage of life.
I remember coming across this scene and couldn't wait to share it as it was an unusual sight for me and I thought it was so cool and here I am just getting to it 10 months later. Daah!

My question to Photo-Focus members ( and anyone else who would like to provide an opinion)
Would you crop or not crop out the ghostly Mark on the left ? It was very frustrating to miss out on the rest of the circle but it was setup on a tripod and I had no idea that he would even be in the image because he was always on the move. Don't get me wrong - I'm happy to have a resident ghost, just not one encircled by an incomplete circle :-) I doubt I could successfully remove it using PP. However if I crop in drammatically the dais looks lopsided or I lose the blue squiggles.
You can see some of Mark's images at: www.flickr.com/photos/marksilvaphotos/8477474577/in/photo...
For those who may enlarge this, I think the little brown shape behind the girls was a prop. Not sure if I could effectively remove this either due to all the line patterns

Waikiki is most famous for its beaches and every room is just two or three blocks away from the sea. With Leahi (Diamond Head) as your backdrop, the calm waters of Waikiki are perfect for a surfing lesson. In fact, legendary Hawaiian waterman Duke Kahanamoku grew up surfing the waves of Waikiki. This Olympic gold medallist in swimming actually taught visitors how to surf at the turn of the century and was later known as “The father of modern surfing”. Today, the Waikiki Beach Boys perpetuate Duke’s legacy by teaching visitors how to surf and canoe and the Duke Kahanamoku Statue has become an iconic symbol of Waikiki.
