After studying about the Harlem Renaissance and reading “One Last Word” in English Language Arts class, seventh graders at Hiatt Middle School showcased their own learning and inspirations to community visitors in the Library on Thursday, April 4th.
This photo was taken in shadow, but I liked how it came out! I tried lightening it, but it lost the 'feel' to it!
Cropped right in to highlight the insect!

The lesson started off with a brief history of criccieth from our welsh tutor karen.
We were then treated to a rendition of the national anthem and then onto useful phrases such as hello, good morning and where is...? Some phrases for on camp for leaders and scouts to use. The scouts enjoyed learning how to say im the only gay in the village! Karen read an extract from sam tan (fireman sam) in welsh. The lesson ended with peoples names translated into welsh and then the scouts all said a welsh thank you (diolch yn fawr)
This afternoon we are off to criccieth castle.
On a solitary dog-walk one winter afternoon...I saw this guy playing hoops with a tennis ball...the shadows were perfect...BUT NO CAMERA...I literally RAN HOME (with dog in tow) grabbed my camera and although he was still there...the perfect(?) shadow shots...were missed by a few minutes...CARRY YOUR CAMERA WITH YOU!...
