Horseback Riding - October 8th
Shot with a Kodak Retina IIc on Lomography RedScale film. WARNING--Technical Content: The film is spooled into the film cassette on the wrong side. I.e. emulsion side facing you as you load the film. This is backwards from normal 35mm film. So you are exposing your images through the reddish-orange protective coating of the film. So acting as a natural filter, you get intense red, orange, and yellow tones. It's fun as the results are unpredictable depending on the light source and color of your subjects. Negatives scanned using a Konica Minolta DiMage Scan Dual IV film scanner.

Even though the shoe exercise was difficult it heightened my awareness of shape and edges. Made this exercise much easier! I am pleased with how it turned out except for the two ink blobs :-)

Zinger of the day: Nicole (who is five -- you can see in the corner of the shot) and I had the following dialog:
Nicole: "What is that?" (indicating the cute tutu bathing suit Mackenzie has on)
Me: "It's a tutu - it's a ballerina costume."
Nicole: "Why is she wearing it?"
Me: "Because it's cute."
Nicole: "But why would she wear it - ballerinas don't go in swimming with their clothes on."
Me: "Hm..good point. We should probably take it off then."

We were standing near the dinner table. It was summer, and the day had just begun.
He simply told me to look at my thumb, saying, “Now look closely at your fingernail.”
“Uh, Huh” I responded.
“Now, your fingernail is made up of many different layers. Now, Imagine in between each of those layers is space, and within that space contains an infinite amount of universes. Universes, just like ours. Can you imagine that?”
As I sat there, wide eyed, staring at my thumb, imagining infinite space, I said, “Yes, I can imagine that.” then I fell into a deep silence.
My father smirked and walked away.
