I had some almost blondish alpaca hair laying around so I draped it over Gideon's head to see how he'd look with hair. Very much the look I'll be going for, except maybe shorter, and hopefully a lighter shade of blond. I was worried he wouldn't be expressive enough, but taking shots of him at different angles proved me wrong. Very pleased :D

Les longues racines aériennes à la base de son stipe (tronc) lui valent une réputation étonnante : la capacité de se mouvoir de plus d’un mètre par an. Pouvant atteindre près de 25 mètres de haut, son tronc mince (un stipe) est suspendu au-dessus du sol par des racines-échasses épaisses,qui donnent l’impression qu’au fur et à mesure de la croissance ,il se déplace ..Mais cela ne reste qu’une légende dans les forêts tropicales d’Amérique centrale et du Sud où il pousse.

The long aerial roots at the base of its stipe (trunk) give it an astonishing reputation: the ability to move more than a metre a year. Growing up to 25 metres high, its slender trunk (a stipe) is suspended above the ground by thick stilt-roots, which give the impression that as it grows, it moves. But this is only a legend in the tropical forests of Central and South America where it grows.

Sicherlich eines der schönsten klassischen Karussells, die Raupenbahn aus dem Jahr 1926. Bis Ende der 60er Jahre betrieben von Bruno Tusch (Krefeld), anschließend von Steiger (Oberhausen).
Wohl wenige jugendliche Kirmesbesucher vom Niederrhein oder aus dem Ruhrpott der 70er Jahre, die sich nicht an die Raupe und an Fredy Steiger erinnern. Der hielt mit seinen flotten und teilweise auch derben Sprüchen die Besucher bei Laune.
Die Musikauswahl tat ein übriges. Während im Radio noch die Schlager der 50er dudelten, gab es hier meist Rockiges aus Fredys gut sortiertem Plattenschrank zu hören.

Auch wenn ich eigentlich aus dem Rhein-Main Gebiet komme, bin ich in meiner Kindheit doch am häufigsten in Mannheim mit der Straßenbahn gefahren. Damals gab es noch die OEG und deren DUEWAG Gt8.
