Very warm day in Ann Arbor. Saw lots of fox squirrel juveniles and adults out and about in Ann Arbor, Monday July 1st 2019 at the University of Michigan. So all sorts of things going on. First, I saw Lefty (or Tripod) near Martha Cook. She is the three pawed squirrel. I got some nice pictures of her in the sunlight. Additionally, I did see "Patches O'Houlihan" again (a squirrel who had lost most of her fur because of mange) on the Law Quad. Last week, I reached out to the Friends of Wildlife Michigan and they connected me with someone who has worked up some medicated pecans for me to feed the squirrel. I came on Saturday and did not see Patches, but I saw another who seemed to have mange. I did give that little one the first pecan and hopefully that will help. I decided to call that one "Justin" for the youngest team member on the dodgeball team that Patches coaches. Today, I had a short amount of time and ran over to the Law Quad and saw Patches! I gave her the pecan and I hope it does the trick. She is not sporting much fur and seems to be raw from scratching. I will give Justin and Patches the second pecan next Monday. I really hope it does the trick. I will track their progress - fingers crossed!
My 33nd "Squirrel Run" at the University of Michigan since our work from home started to combat COVID-19. Today was the day after Labor Day and my day for Kresge Office Hours during the Fall Term at the University of Michigan. It was a very rainy day, and I got a few quick trips to Law Quad. I did see Lefty, my favorite three pawed squirrel, and Waddles. The squirrels are no doubt happy the students are back. I hope we keep it that way. Taken on Tuesday September 8th, 2020. Sending love and virtual hugs from Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Our little lefty. She eats, color and throws left handed. Her dad is very excited about what this means for her future athletic career.

With COVID-19 essentially shutting down campuses all across America and the world, there are few normal days to be had. Like most of my colleagues at the University of Michigan, I have been working from home. There is also a "stay at home" order in the state that really strongly encourages people to stay in (to flatten the curve). In the Governor's order, we do have the freedom to participate in outdoor activities - as long as we keep a social distance of 6 feet. I keep at least enough room for the Holy Spirit to drive a car between me and anyone I am with. So today, I went to campus to see and feed my squirrel friends. This is the second time I have made the "Squirrel Run" - I have missed them a great deal. So off to campus I went. I did not get within six feet of anyone NOT a squirrel. I did see my squirrel friend Juli - but we did keep our distance! In regards to the squirrels it was a banner day and I took a lot of pictures during my short time on campus! Besides seeing all the squirrels and feeding them (with a big old bag of peanuts), it was quite exciting. I was able to see Lefty, my favorite three pawed squirrel over by the Law Quad. I did not see the juveniles by Mason Hall, but I did see the squirrels in the scilla field near Martha Cook. Be safe everyone - we will get through this. Sending love and virtual hugs from Ann Arbor, Michigan. Pictures from the University of Michigan on Thursday April 2nd, 2020.
