A male Everglades Snail Kite coming out of the water with an Apple Snail in the morning light. I guess he is left handed.
Male Fiddler Crab - the males have one large claw and a small one which can be on either the left or right side. This particular one is left clawed.. The males use this major claw in courtship behavior to attract the female. The smaller claw is used for eating. The female Fiddlers have two small claws.

Four keys I dug out of a keepsake box. Two of them are from my first car, a 1974 AMC Hornet. The other two opened a campus building and an office I once used in my undergraduate days; just never got around to returning them I guess.

An eastbound C&NW freight bends through suburban Elmhurst IL behind lead GP50 No. 5067 under the high noontime sun of 29 June 1989, just minutes away from arriving at the railroad's sprawling Proviso Yard.
My 29th "Squirrel Run" at the University of Michigan since our work from home started to combat COVID-19. I have been doing this as part of my time working in the office as we are preparing for Fall term. Hooked up one more squirrel who had mange over on the Law Quad. I did see Waddles during my time at Law. But the best part of my day was seeing Lefty, my favorite three-pawed squirrel. I had not seen her in a while - so that was good. I did have a weird discussion about photography on campus from a UM Security Officer. Had I not been doing this for years, I would have been more confused. Ugh...been that type of year. Still, a wonderful day with my squirrels on Wednesday August 26th, 2020. Sending love and virtual hugs from Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Being left handed has its struggles....smudged ink when writing, elbowing the righty at dinner, having to learn to cut right handed because after kindergarten there are no longer any green-handled, left-handed scissors....but I do have to admit, being a lefty does make me feel unique and not so run-of-the-mill!!
This male Carolina Wren showed up three falls ago, probably from a hatch that year, with a deformed bill. I worried that it might hamper his ability to feed himself, but he has adapted and has flourished. He found a mate his first spring and could be seen feeding her, albeit awkwardly, and has sired at least four broods since then. At the moment, he is missing his long tail feathers and showing some other signs of molting around his head. Still as cute as can be, though.
