Flying in my PA28 from Tatenhill to Sandtoft on my qualifying cross country (QXC) during my PPL pilot training. Doncaster airport is very easy to spot and a useful reference point.

Flying in my PA28 from Tatenhill to Sandtoft on my qualifying cross country (QXC) during my PPL pilot training. I came across Netherthorpe airfield. Which features the shortest runway in the UK - the one in the photo that goes from top to bottom of the airfield.

9/12/08 - I'm hopeful. I've gotten more sleep than usual and I feel much better. Things seem to be looking up in some aspects of life. The things I have control over are going well and that's all I can ask for. I wanted to take pictures outside today but the rain has my trapped inside.

Flight simulation technology now provides an exceptionally realistic representation of the cockpit, avionics, flight conditions (including adverse weather and low light), and aircraft behaviour (including emergency situations). Flying in my PA28 around Yorkshire I came across these bomb craters to the west of Beverley. Most probably from WWII. Either the German bombers missed the port of Hull completely, or decided to release their bombs if they were in trouble, or an Allied bomber jettisoned its bombs because it was in trouble.
