Learn more about performances at the Culver Center by visiting www.culvercenter.ucr.edu/performances/. Daniel Bernard Roumain "Woodbox Beats & Balladry" performance was held January 29, 2011 and organized by UC Riverside Presents.

Haitian-American violinist, composer, performer, and band leader, Daniel Bernard Roumain (DBR) is “as omnivorous as a contemporary musician can get,” (New York Times). A sonic pioneer, DBR’s genre-bending compositions have made him the darling of the concert hall and club circuit alike. His genius for fusing classical music, hip-hop beats, concert violin, and progressive electronic beats, has led to collaborations with everyone from The Sphinx Symphony Orchestra and Philip Glass to DJ Spooky, Bill T. Jones, 2 Live Crew and Lady Gaga. A thoroughly modern master, he channels both Paganini and Prince with equal aplomb for a thoroughly classical-urban sound.

Jollyboys, the Backpacker establishment in Livingstone attracts a diverse group of Europeans. One urban white college age girl claimed "I am going up north to the copper belt to visit a village where two years ago I taught Africans how to farm". But do the Africans need to learn how to farm from a suburban white woman whose only experience in life has been poll dancing at the local strip club?

Learn to Use Weightlifting Wrist Straps for Heavy Weights

via Tumblr bit.ly/16N0hbu Learn to Use Weightlifting Wrist Straps for Heavy Weights: Learn to Use Weightlifting Wrist Straps for Heavy Weights Learn to Use Weightlifting Wrist Straps for Heavy Weights Weightlifting wrist straps by riptoned.com - Discover the best ways to correctly use lifting straps from Kevin Weiss of Body Performance personal fitness training Hello thereKevin Weiss from Body Performance personal fitness training, in the last 30 years of being a competitive bodybuilder both on the national and world stage as well as being a.competitive powerlifter I have actually learned a thing or 2 about what works and what doesn’t.The last thing you want when you’re dealing with a heavy weight whether it’s with deadlifts, rows, pull-ups, pull-downs or any other thing like that where your grip may become a factor is your grip to slip on you so today I am going to tell you about something I have actually made use of for many years and a fantastic weightlifting product that actually is going to help you in reaching your goals. So the product I want to share with you is the Rip Toned weightlifting padded wrist straps and I just want to offer you a very quick tutorial of the steps to correctly use these lifting workout straps.1. The 1st step that you’re going to do is you’re going to find the loop on the end of the lifting straps.2. Slide the other end through the loop.3. Then move the weightlifting strap onto your hand so the other end is hanging down your palm, you don’t want it this way over top. As well you don’t want it to be up on your wrist cause that’s not going to support everything down onto your hand.4. Tighten it up like this … and that’s ready to go.5. Now I will show you how to wrap the strap around the bar to get the tightest grip possible.6. So your starting position for this step is close to the bar with your wrist strap going underneath, don’t go overtop like this you’ll still have the ability to wrap it around like that but you’re.not going to get a tight grip this way.7. Put it underneath the same way your thumb would go underneath, you can push the lifting strap end underneath then get it on the back side with your fingers like this and pull it until it is tight.8. Now that you have it like this it’s an easy exercise of just flipping it over multiple times… if you really want to keep it tight what works great is that you do similar to a motorcycle grip or a motorcycle throttle twist it … bring it … pull it … twist it … you’re good to go.9. Then you just simply duplicate that with your other hand.Easy as that … now using Rip Toned padded weightlifting straps I have a good grip that’s not going to slip out of my hands at any point in time. All right so that’s all there is to it … real easy product and it will make a big difference in any workouts where your grip is going to be an issue.I’m Kevin Weiss from Body Performance online coaching have an excellent day.Click the link below for more information on RipToned weightlifting wrist straps for both men and women bodybuilders and powerlifters.http://bit.ly/1a7Brbs. via Blogger bit.ly/17rB0U4 via Tumblr bit.ly/1eLT7qw

This image is not about a simple laugh. It is about the moment when a group closes ranks against someone and turns humiliation into spectacle. The phone becomes the center of the scene, the device that captures, amplifies, and delivers the target to the complicit gaze of the others. The laughter here is not innocent: it is compliance, alignment, a small training in cruelty.

What is disturbing is not only the act of mocking, but its function. People laugh to belong, to please, to remain on the side of those who hold more strength, more voice, more power. This is how abuse becomes normalized: not only through those who exercise it openly, but also through those who accompany it, make it acceptable, and turn it into a collective habit.

In this photograph, the real subject is not the single face exposed on the screen, but the mechanism that binds the others together. The pack is often born this way: from a light, almost cheerful consensus that nonetheless prepares the ground for moral violence. Those who learn to mock in order to please also learn to serve. And those who serve abuse, even without directly dirtying their hands, help keep it alive.

Dunluce Castle is believed to have been built in the site of an earlier fort by Richard de Burgh or one of his chief followers in the thirteenth century. The castle was taken by force from the McQuillens by Sorley Boy McDonnell after the Battle of Orla in 1565. The castle eventually came into the possession of his son Randal McDonnell, an earl, who set about restoring it and building a lavish manor house within the castle walls.

A village grew up around the castle, merchants settled there, and it became a thriving focus of commerce.

In 1639, part of the castle, including the kitchens, fell into the sea. Seven cooks died.

The 1641 rebellion saw the castle sieged by an Irish army. While the surrounding village burned, the castle held out under the command of a Captain Digsby. General Munro arrived here in 1642 with a large army and is said to have arrested and imprisoned the Earl in Carrickfergus and ransacked Dunluce. The Earl re-occupied Dunluce Castle after 1666 and lived there until his death in 1683.

After the Battle of the Boyne in 1690, which led to the impoverishment of the McDonnells because they had adhered to the cause of James II, Dunluce Castle was abandoned.

Fahri, the old champion, drove out 600km to see us two weeks after we left his house in Istanbul. He wanted to learn the art of wildcamping so we happily spent three nights schooling him.
